AD visit today...

Nothing out of the ordinary...Zero selection of SS sport models and was told I’d have to spend 25k just to get on “the list” for Daytona. Business as usual, I suppose.

Sorry to hear, that's a bummer. What are you looking for/to buy? I'm also curious which AD you went to since it looks like we are in the same area.

No, I just politely ended the conversation and moved on. I suppose it’s their prerogative to establish whatever business rules they so choose. I wasn’t offended, will just likely purchase elsewhere (like here).

Ah yeah I have been to their Sterling and MGM locations, the one at MGM has had some ok stock before but it’s pretty much hopeless to pick up a SS Daytona from them unfortunately.

Yup, he basically told me they have 10 stores and only established customers (25k +) can get on that list. I didn’t expect to find one sitting in the showcase, was just passing through and figured I’d take a look. Can’t get lucky if you don’t take a shot!

Nick, I was planning on being in the DC area in June.....I shouldn't be wasting my time at the ADs?

Went to my AD this past week just to see what they had. Was kind of looking for a Bluesy, but they only had the LN version. They had a no date Sub, a couple of SeaDwellers, SkyDwellers, a black GMTII. A SS/rose gold/chocolate dial Yachtmaster and some other TTs. I had kind of taken a liking to the TT/SS yachtmaster, but it didn't do a thing for me in the flesh. I asked the sales lady about a SS/Plat blue dial YachtMaster and was surprised to hear there was a waiting list for them. She did say she'd call me when they got a bluesy in. We'll see if the itch is still there when she calls.

I purchased at finks in NC and had a great experience... probably because I purchased PM. :-)

Never hurts to check but mostly chains around here and all seemingly want to deal exclusively with established customers. Not much love for the occasional buyer...

Yup, sure did. Have been in there before, nice folks. Nothing but good things to say, just minimal stock these days, like everyone else. I don’t blame them for reserving the Daytona list for established customers, there’s just not enough to go around.

I really think you are at a disadvantage in a larger urban area. Seems like the smaller rural AD's get an outsized amount of inventory. Here in middle America Fort Smith, Arkansas (population 85,000) our local AD always seems to have a Submariner (with and without date), a couple of Milgausses, then the occasional GMT Master II (black only), the occasional Sea-Dweller and even the occasional Daytona.

After that it's the usual: Explorer, Explorer II (both colors), Air-King, OP's, and plenty of DJ's.

Don't bother calling them though. They will not sell over the phone. They are a really fantastic AD though if you live in the area.

Stopped by my AD today to pick up an order and they brought the Root Beer out. I was shocked to see it and shocked even more when they said it wasn't spoken for.

Might as well get the PM Daytona if that's the pre-requisite.
