Macro has got to be one of my favorite things about Rolex photography. Thanks for the posts, everyone. Please keep it up!

and to whomever the banned guy is, he just sold me on an Ollo Clip for my iPhone.

That's not "A" macro lens; that is "THE" macro lens. Congrats on that!

Great photos too! Stop it all the way down and use a remote timer release to increase depth of field if you like. That's a particular area where this lens really shines.

Wide open the dof is about as deep as an hour hand's thickness but if you align it square, it is sharp corner to corner which is a big deal...

Thanks! Indeed the 100mm is an excellent lens as it can do both macro and landscape..supports autofocus and image stabilization..easy to carry and can be used without a stand

but if I have to pick THE best lens, then its the MP-E 65mm..1x-5x zoom but no autofocus or image stabilization so its almost impossible to take pictures at that zoom range and requires some extra gear

here is the MPE-65mm in action

I would suggest many members not to continue with this thread if they plan to enjoy their Rolex. You WILL find something wrong with the watch either a minute piece of dust, inconsistent sunburst lines or something that will bother you if your OCD. Done it many many times and ended up flipping certain Rolex's due to what I saw and once you see something on a watch you cannot unseen it. Believe me I've tried to.

This is a path to ruining your experiences looking at watches with macro lens.

I would hope that the members on here have a much more pragmatic approach and can deal with any minor issues and treat them as character rather than being forced to sell their watch.

Treat them as character? Nah mate that's just a cop out excuse for imperfections. If you drop $10k or heck even $35k on a watch you would expect perfection - quite honestly you deserve to have perfection which Rolex prides itself on.

Everyone has their level of acceptance but lets just say Rolex have failed me numerous times on that aspect. I still love Rolex's I just learnt not to look at any watches with a loupe.
