Can you get a BLNR easily where you are? Here you'd need to pay over list price or be on a list.

I have owned the 116610ln for three to four years now, and I love it just as much today as the day I received it. It's timeless and goes with everything. Having said that, my next Rolex (hopefully any day now) will be the BLNR especially since I may be waiting a while for the new Daytona. I think you could say the same things about it as the Sub. It's just a beautiful watch and wears great on my wrist (have tried one on multiple times). I would likely very slightly lean Sub if it's your first and only Rolex, but you can't go wrong either way here.

In the US BLNR is relatively easy to get. If you go with a Trusted Seller you can get it under list price. Daytona C and maybe DSSD are the only tough ones to get.

However a quick Google search reveals some cartoon images at least show Batman wearing a Black + Blue cape, so maybe this is where the tag came from...??

Following the above logic, why wasn't the Red & Blue Ceramic GMT nicknamed the Superman?

That is shadowing not a two tone cape.

I realise I'm bucking the trend here but I'd go with the Sub. I have both (although my Sub is the LVc) and the Sub wins hands down.

For some reason I'm not able to explain, after two years of ownership I'm bored of my BLNR. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to flip it but I would most certainly leave it behind in a zombie apocalypse.

I went blnr and then added a 97200 sub bracelet from a sub, as I hate pcl's.

BLNR for me no question. Now make it a 114060 then really tough choice!

BLNR here as well

A date cyclops never made much sense to me on a Sub, but if you have to have it, then maybe it's the one for you.

I wondered when I got my BLNR if I would still wear my 114060 but I do, and every time I wear the SubC I am so impressed by it. To me this reference is just an incredible evolution of iconic watch, it is simple, clean, timeless ... I love it. Now that said I think the BLNR has to be one of the most incredible modern day Rolexes. That was a big help I'm sure :-) Anyway, you have chosen two great watches and if you have decided on the BLNR you won't be sorry.

Beauty is skin deep - Buy both, wear for a little while and see which one fits your eyes and routine better and then sell the one that means less to you.

Why? A date function makes a lot of sense if you spend a lot of days at sea or in a saturation dive situation (outside of day to day use.) The Sea Dwellers don't have a cyclops apparently because it may blow off or crack at their stated depth ratings.

If it's not going to blow off at 300m, why not have a cyclops?

The cyclops is not going to be damaged or cause damage. It is not on the SD because the increase in crystal thickness does not work with the magnification of the cyclops.

Some here including myself, just don't prefer the aesthetic appearance. Personal preference is all

Both are great options, but if this is your first Rolex or first luxury watch in general then go for the sub. Its more versatile and is also a bit cheaper. Also I know this shouldn't play to much into which one to get, because looks matter more than anything, but which function do you see yourself using more? Do you want to know a different time zone all the time? Or do you want to be able to time something occasionally (or use it as an actual dive timer). I mean if you travel a lot across different time zones then for sure the gmt makes more sense. But if you rarely travel and are looking for a watch that you can literally wear with anything that will NEVER go out of style, get the sub. It's a no-brainer and a choice that you will not regret.

Yeah, I almost said it was one of those two reasons, because it's been debated ad nauseum over the years.

Im gonna go against the crowd and say get the SUBC. I have both watches and if I had to sell one then the BLNR is the first to go. But regardless they are both great watches. Get both!

For me, form follows function.

If you travel and use the 24 hr hand function, go BLNR. If not, get the sub.
