Help making decision please?

Hi All, I'm a newbie on here, although have been lurking for some while.

I'm hoping someone could offer a little bit of advice on which purchase to make.

I've long been a fan of Panerai and I'm now in a position to purchase one, I have a few watches, but all low end stuff and nothing anywhere near as expensive as what I'm looking at now. This will also be a purchase that I do not intend to sell at any point in the future.

My options currently are a PAM00112, a PAM00111 and a PAM00312.

The 112 is around £6/700 cheaper than the other 2 but comes without a box and on a rubber strap, I would probably purchase an aftermarket leather strap to put on it.

I know the 312 is the inhouse automatic movement and the 112 and 111 are eta based manual movements, so assuming would be cheaper/easier to service in the future?

Basically, would there be any benefit in spending the extra to get either the 111 or 312?

Also what are people's opinions on future values - on the off chance I may need to sell in the future (hoping this doesn't happen)

Thanks all

I’d personally buy a clean and crispy pre-owned. Then the resale value will be very little if any at all. This would be the case for just about any watch brand with exceptions of some Rolex sport models. If it’s your first watch and you want to buy brand new and not planning to ever resell then I’d go that route. There’s no better feeling.

111. Full set + Bettarini case (compared to thicker 1st gen auto PAM).

Totally different watches; manual vs. auto; date or no date; numeral 9 with seconds or 9 by itself or seconds by itself.

Look at the two case styles from the side; they will look different

If you want date or seconds and the “9” the decision is pretty straight forward from those choices.

Easy choice... pic the one with the features you want. I prefer auto-wind and date.

Another vote for the 111, unless you really need/want auto and the date.

I vote for the 312. Having a date along with it being an automatic is worth the extra money. I also personally prefer the 1950 case style.

I prefer the 312 and like the case and the look of the watch. All the benefits of a Panerai and an automatic movement and date. The 1950 case is nice. I would look at the 104 before the 111 or the 112. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Congrats!

So was it the date,or auto movement, dial configuration, or case shape that made you choose the 1312?

All are different than the 111/112

It was close but it was the case shape more than anything else that swung it

Nice one! For my first, I was debating between the 312 and the 111. Ended up going with the 111. That was 12 years ago. Just needed a service last year. Been one of my most reliable watches!

for the service (including polish) as far i know in authorized service centre in my country is around 550usd
and for value for re selling in the future it depends on what country are you because every country has different market i guess. but 312 is pretty popular and easy to sell, simplest way how to know how mainstream r the 312, is search on instagram using hashtag #pam312 you'll be surprised on how many people loved this watch.

for me, i'll go for 312. or maybe 351.
