Too much text on Daytona?

Never noticed this until today when I spotted someone else wearing the Daytona. There are 5 lines. We could maybe trim it down to 4 to give it a bit more room?

Maybe write Rolex and see what they say about one of their flagships? ;-)

Agreed! It’s a full paragraph.

Sub has too much too.
Bring back the two liners

Agree, looks like a paragraph. I would prefer no more than 3 lines of text on any watch.

There’s too much writing on all Rolex dials. Two liners look so much better. We all know the watches are “oyster perpetual” and “superlative chronometer officially certified”. They’ve been that way for a long time. Quit cluttering the dials with all that crap.

We? I can't even get an allocation, let alone have a say in the number of lines on the dial.

I never was a fan of the Daytona. Dial is too busy for me.

I dont think there are any current production rolexes that would not be objectively better by removing 1 line of text. the future will look back at the "paragraph" era of rolexes and laugh

IDK... When I look at my sub I don't really notice the text but then I can't see shit close up... Daytona in most configurations is hard to read. It's one of the best looking watches out there yet almost difficult to tell the time. Probably never own one since the lack of a moving large second hand would drive me nuts. Also engaging the chrono functions has always felt iffy, like I am mechanically stressing the watch.

I would have Rolex written bolder with 3 lines below.

If I want a minimalistic design I will look at other brands.

I like the full text, fluted or nice and shiny ceramic bezels, cyclops, jubilee bracelets and all the other perks which makes a Rolex a Rolex.

I think it's this text layout is exactly that balances the dial. This makes it look like a perfectly symmetrical four-dial display, when it's not. Honestly, to me, this is the only design aspect that makes a Daytona dial unique and impressive compare to any other chronograph dial.

Yup, in my opinion there is way too much text on the present Daytona. It's still a beautiful watch, but it would be much more pleasing to the eye if it only had three lines of text like the 6263. The same applies to the Submariner.

People who claim that excess verbiage on the dial is part of what makes a Rolex a Rolex need to have a look at the older models...

Rolex lightens up the text on some refs so it doesn't ruin the dial like on a serti dial for example

The busiest ideal a watchmaker can make. Don’t understand why Rolex departed from the minimalistic dial design of its original Daytona.

Likewise must be the most over hyped Rolex watch ever, and sure if it was not for the hype and because it's always been hard to get since launch in 2000 it would not be as popular today. But today hype sells watches and make them popular and in general sellers jumping up for joy as they can charge silly money for them.

Didn't think I could dislike the Daytona even more than I do now until you pointed that out. Too cluttered dial, too useless complication, too small, too everything wrong with a watch. Agree with Padi on his Daytona opinion.

Nobody needs the sub-dials either. Perhaps remove those. And the bezel could be changed to a smooth metal one. Get rid of the screw down buttons as well, they're a bit busy.
