I got it!

Thank you to all who shared their insights over the weekend in my original thread “ Thoughts on the panerai 562 as a first panerai”. I walked by the panerai boutique last Thursday and decided to take a look inside. When I ask the gentleman if he had any base models available, he showed me a panerai 562 – a base pam in titanium with a chocolate dial and matching alligator strap. I strapped it on and it just felt right on my wrist. Still I thought I would sleep on it and at the same time ask the folks over at TRF about the watch, since I really had no idea about panerais and titanium watches.
Many in the forum shared good things about the watch, and as the weekend passed, the excitement of strapping it on again only grew more intense. I came across another panerai – a used but mint 112, an iconic model for sure. But it wasn’t titanium, it wasn’t a choco dial, and it didn’t have a matching alligator strap. I kept thinking about getting the 112, but it just didn’t stir any emotion. In the end I knew which one I wanted.

PS. It seems that Pams are harder to photograph. That clean dial reflects everything back into the camera. I must have looked funny moving around looking for an angle to take this photo at the mall.

Beautiful...congrats! Let's the strap and PAM obsession begin! Posting pictures is easier to do on the Panerai FB groups, but some pics here would be cool as well!

one more try

I hope the photos are getting thru - it seems that one minute they are there and another they are gone! Oh well, I resized some photos...

here's a photo of the backside - not as interesting as the front IMHO.

I am not a fan of most pics I have seen of the tobacco dial, but this one looks amazing.

Congrats, nice watch! I have got the same movement in my 561 (white dial). I am curious how accurate is your movement. Somehow challenging to check without the second hand, but doable over a week long period if properly set.

Thanks for the compliment. I have my Q series since March 2015 and it’s been very reliable and accurate.

1 week

Day 7 and she's ticking along - seems to be within a minute since the time was set last week. I have also acquired some straps but I am still loving the brown alligator so no hurry to change it yet

The Newest 562 models are no longer sandwich dial, as far as I recall?!

Yes that's correct. I read that beginning with R series Panerai d/c the sandwich dial in the base models. This one is an S series - the numbers are recessed and the lume is painted into the recessed portion. There is still some 3D effect if you grab a loupe, strain your eyes and look closely, but no where is it near the effect of the original sandwich dials.
