5513 Gilt Dial serial no

Howdy folks,

Looking for a gilt 5513. Seen one thats supposedly from 1967 with a serial no in the 1,8 millions. Reading up this seems very late for a gilt 5513. Any expert opinions on where the break between gilt/non gilt is? Is 1,8 mill completely out of the question for a genuine gilt one?

Thanks, I read that. Also some other stuff about the gilt meters first transitioning into the 1,7 and possibly even 1,8 m territory. Don’t know what to believe.

We cannot be certain. While 1.8m seems a little on the late side, let us remember that watches with a 1.4m case and a 1.8m case were assembled within twelve months of one another. It is entirely possible that 1.8m 5513s were genuinely fitted from new with a gilt dial, in my opinion, but you will be forever having to justify it to those who insist there was a clear cut-off at XYZ number (based on them reading it once on the internet).
