OP, any additional details on why you passed? Is it because you don't like the reference or is it due to the cost?

You have to really like these new models at retail prices. It’s a big jump from the prices of 5196 or even 6119 to spend what is it around 40 usd on a basic calatrava? Around 8 US more then the 6119 if I recall.
Always buy what you really want and don’t just buy to keep the AD happy would be my advice.

Not all all - if you are having second thoughts of owning it when AD call, it's right of you to pass it up. Watches are big money, buy what you ultimately like and will hold for a long time.

I would not buy it if it is not the one you want.

Just tried it on yesterday. Put on the wishlist. Why did you pass I’m curious?

Buy what you want! I'd make the same call too, this one doesn't do anything for me

If you liked it, and could comfortably afford it, you wouldn’t have passed. Either reason is a good reason not to buy the watch.

This model, with its textured pebbled surface dial and arabics, evokes an Exploreresque vibe to me.

Some may not like that look - so I’d never say OP was stupid to pass.

Buying a watch you don’t like just to flip? Now that would be stupid in this market.

It’s not stupid. I was offered a Code 11.59 that I turned down. While I love the 5226G (and personally own one), I wouldn’t put down that much cash if I truly didn’t love the piece. Money isn’t easy to come by so if you buy something as pricey as a Patek, it better be the one you truly want.

I also was offered and passed. I like the 'big brother version' better.

5226 is a desirable model as far as the Calatrava's are concerned but if you did not like it then you made the right decision.

Personally, I wouldn’t have passed on it.
Though the OP appears reluctant to add any additional information.
Perhaps they have got buyers remorse?
