New England & Canada roadtrip

Hello TRF,

I'm going on a road trip to New England area and Canada and was wondering is there some watch related must-to-do-stops in the way I should make.

We are flying in to New York and will rent a car from there. The stops we are planning to do are:
1. New Haven, CT
2. Boston, MA
3. Kittery, ME
4. Burlington, VT
5. Montreal
6. Ottawa
7. Toronto
8. Lancaster, PA
9. New York City, NY

I know the places to visit in NYC, but the others are unknown territory for me.

Here's a pic of my Sky-Dweller to make this post more Rolex related

Toronto is pretty much a watch wasteland. ADs here are bone dry (unlike 6 months earlier) and the service is terrible pretty much across the board. The only good Rolex AD around these parts seems to be Damiani, which is some distance north of the city. Great collector community, but the shops just suck.

If you are going to Lancaster Pa. you have to go to the National Watch & Clock museum. It’s only 15 minutes from Lancaster.
If you are anywhere in the north east and are into horological, you need to do a pilgrimage.

In the Boston metro area? There are ADs you can try; for example, Long’s in the Financial District or Lux, Bond & Green on Boylston Street. But expect your time would be better spent taking in the attractions around Faneuil Hall, tour of the Freedom Trail, visiting the Muesum of Fine Art or enjoying a nice Italian meal in the North End (personally recommend Mamma Maria). Kittery, ME is known for its shopping outlets; however, a ride 1.5 hours north to Freeport, ME would be the preferred venue.

Saratoga is a good idea, we go there every year for racing. But the season ends at the end of the month. Great town any season though!
I went to college in Lancaster... RGM is there... so are the Amish
Have fun!

In the Boston area, you may be able to find some historic exhibits related to the Waltham Watch Company (in Waltham, MA), and possibly the E. Howard & Co. Watch & Clock Company. I'm aware that one of Waltham's old buildings still exists and has been converted to mix of retail and offices, but I have never investigated whether there are historic exhibits in Waltham or if there are any in Boston for E. Howard & Co., who produced very fine watches and clocks.

The must-do in Lancaster, PA is a visit to RGM Watches! Roland Murphy has been producing interesting watches based on Swiss ebauches and vintage American pocket watch movements since the early 1990s, and then a few years ago he began producing a manufacture movement right there in Lancaster (RGM Caliber 801). Really fantastic stuff!

Hope you enjoy touring New England

If you are in Toronto and will be downtown I presume, head over to Yorkville and check out Royal De Versaille. They have a huge selection of several luxury brands including Rolex. Walk across to Watchfinder as well to look at lots of great used luxury watches.

There is a small spot in Waltham with an old building ans some of the old Waltham watchmaking equipment, history and a ton of dials and parts to look at.

As mentioned downtown Boston has several AD's. Try European Watch on Newbury also.

Just below Kittery there is Springer's in tax free Portsmouth NH.

Long's in Burlington is also on the way from Boston to Maine. That is my go-to AD of choice.

Remove the word "watch" and as a general comment on the city, pretty accurate.

The European Watch Company on Newbury Street in Boston usually has a great selection of mint condition timespieces (Rolex, Patek, ALS, FP Journe etc).
