Haven't shaved my head for a few years as I used to scare many of my punters and was told more than once that I looked like a thug.
However, Andis or Oster professional clippers, grade 0. Wet shaving was always a PITA, if you nick the scalp it bleeds like a bugger and you end up with a grade 0 after 2 days anyway.

I was in the same boat but decided to go in the other direction. Hair started thinning about 10 years ago and I kept getting shorter haircuts more often.
4 months ago decided I was either going to start to shave it all or see what other options there were. Went to see a hair specialist. I’ve had 2 treatments. My hair is growing in thicker and there more of it. It won’t be like it was in my 20’s because I waited too long to fix it but was told a realistic result would be to keep what I have with a 50% increase in hair. Thats a win as far as I am concerned. So far, happy with the results and no shaving. I mention this because there is modern treatments that don’t require surgery in many cases. If you want hair, look into it.

So thankful, it's not a concern for me.....
Some people have a nicely shaped head and I'm not really one of them. |

I appreciate the feedback herein. I’ll never do laser treatment, but I will buy tat wahl trimmer and rotate between the Braun, andis, wahl, and Mach 3. I don’t like shaving because I have a septic system on land... I try not to dump stuff in our system for that reason.

I'd be curious to know how much time per day/week it takes to keep a shaved dome in top shape.

I dry shave my head with the Andis 6 days a week sometimes 7. It usually takes me like 3-4 minutes if I shave everyday and double if I skip a day. That's because the foil shaver has trouble cutting longer hair and I have to go over the same area multiple times to get everything.

It starts with PRP (plasma rich platelets) injections in the effected area of the scalp. Since the plasma is your own, no side effects. It stimulates the scalp and “feeds” the hair follicles. My doc added in Propecia as well. Typical treatment plan is 4-6 injections year one then 1-2 a year thereafter.
I consulted with two clinics before going with the one I did. The other doc also suggested micro needling and using a medical grade LED light hat to supplement the PRP. My clinic says the LED hats don’t offer enough results for the cost and doesn’t promote them but there are studies that they do work in conjunction with other treatments. So far my results have been good and I haven’t added in any other treatments. If you want to know more, PM me.

Past five years, I use Gillette Sensor2 Plus disposable. I shave face and head every other day in the shower, no mirror, just with whatever bar of soap is at hand. Roughly four to six minutes, while I'm absorbing some heat on my back from the shower water to fully awake.
Day one results are great, day two results are acceptable. I use each razor twice then throw it away. $.20/day, I can live with that. I don't recognize the fellow in photos who had hair varying from medium length to short, only who I am now looks like "me" to me. |

I do not get my identity by my hair. It does not define me. Once I got that I was fine with the tight buzz. Keep it short and neat. Works for Jason Statham. :)

One word of advice - I was unprepared for the "virgin skin" effect after I shaved. There was significant real estate that had never been tan and was white as the driven snow. It took a few years for it to tan evenly with the rest of my face, arms and other skin that showed. Still, totally happy I made the transition and have no intent of going back.

I use clippers to get down to stubble then follow with pitbull skull shaver to get it shorter. Not completely smooth to the touch but gives spores very of completely shaved. Supposed to use the skull shaver every few days to maintain the close cut but never have time to do that so always end up having to use the clippers first.

I’ve found shaving head twice daily makes each shave quick and straight razor smooth. I can’t claim I’ll do everyday twice daily but it’s so ridiculously easy now to shave my head. I use the Braun for my face, alternating between andis and wahl thus far.. amazing results. Both the wahl and the andis irritate my face but I have two Brauns for that .. I think it’s also vital to dump the hair out after each shave and clean the mechanism... I’d recommend the wahl close foil and the andis foil shavers.. better than a razor for me.
