What would be your first two Rolex?

If you didn't have any Rolex, which two Rolex would you buy first?

They can be vintage or modern.

I choose these two Rolex

Day Date 36 Green

Explorer ll 1655

Put up photos, please.

If you've never bought a Rolex before. I would say 116610 or 114060 for your first watch. For your second watch (depending on your life-style, and "dress"-style) I would go for a 116710 or a 126334.

If you've already experienced modern Rolex sport watches and looking to reduce your collection to 1 watch, there is only one choice: The DayDate 40.

Sub (no date) and a polar Explorer II is the pair I would pick. With those two, one doesn't really need anything else.

Sub ND and Daytona, kinda a necessity for every Rolex collection imho. As a good Rolex base collection, build from there.

I wouldn’t go no date sub for the first watch as I think that’s better suited for a collection. My two would be one sports (Steel Daytona) and one dress (DD in YG)

Sd43 and a Sky Dweller blue dial. Got the first, second should come soon.

I would go with a sports watch - SubC Date or Daytona and a dress watch - DD or DJ

Likely and OP and a Sub; at any rate that's the path I followed.

One vintage and one modern: Rolex 5517 MilSub, and a Sky-Dweller.

To start over I would buy the Explorer II 216570 black and PM RG Sky-Dweller with dark Rhodium dial. Perfect size, perfect complications and by far my favorites. Got there eventually. Probably more fun having stumbled through all the other Rolex unicorns first.

IMHO if they are being purchased by a non-WIS, just a person looking for two nice watches then the most sensible would probably be a DJ and Explorer II. Kind of dressy/classy DJ and sport Explorer with a GMT function could cover a lot of bases.

assuming all things are “available,” i’d go with a 126710BLRO and a 116500LN.

or, if i hadn’t spent most of my life salivating over rolex and suddenly had the funds to splurge, a platinum 228206 and the 126719BLRO.

I started with a 5 digit SD and a DJ. Whatever the references, you have to go with what sings to you

Definitely a Professional style, like the GMT or Submariner, followed by a slightly more conservative style like a DateJust.

For sure a sub would be required.
Then the second one would be dealer's choice.
I'd probably go for something more dressy like day date or datejust.
