These are great pictures. Top, bottom, wrist roll. No steering wheels or scenic backdrops - it’s all about that watch - and what a beautiful watch!

Also just noticed how the Roman 4 is IV, where some newer models are IIII

The bark type bracelets were discontinued in the 1980s early 1990s,I liked the bark finish but they were quite a bit more difficult to make. And like the Tridor 3 colour gold bracelets of the 1980s now both out of production both great looking bracelets.

Love a bit of bark.

You have to make sure these have the right number of bracelet links before buying. Trying to source extra bark links is like trying to find a hen's uncle's cousin's teeth.

I like gold generally and love the idea of the Tridor - but in the metal they remind me of TT, which I only like on certain Cartier Santos models and one GMT Master. It was also done well by others - Dunhill made a load of three-golds 18K lighters back in the day using bands of each colour, they look great. If only I still smoked! I suppose I could take up cigars for yet another expensive hobby...

This is a beautiful 18078, Kostas.

Thanks a bunch. Now I have to get a bark Day-Date. That's not going to do my wallet any good.

I expect there’s no need for that wallet-wrecking leap, as even just the Day-Date paths alone seem infinite - The lines divide and subdivide forever, into ever-tinier capillaries. Like seemingly all vintage Rolex references, it begins with a few distinct branches, and ends up among faint wisps of fog.

I was intrigued to learn here that the bark pattern is pressed/forged into the links, rather than engraved. A happy side effect of this is that non-factory barking is relatively easy to spot. OTOH, it doesn’t seem to take much polishing to kill the factory bark’s sparkle.
