Major jump in prices on Vintage Watchco Seamaster builds!

I was just checking Ebay for Vintage Seamaster 300s as I often do, and came across a few Watchco listings for their "newly" built Vintage Seamaster 300. They had been asking a buy it now of $3700 just a few weeks ago. Today the buy it now is $4400.

I knew the day would come that the prices on these would go through the roof...that time is now.

As some of you are aware I built three of these in the last few months and due to price increases I have stopped doing builds of my own. Glad I got in on them while they were still reasonable. One of my builds is still my daily wearer and favorite watch I have ever owned.

If anyone is considering one, or has been, you better get one now before they are $5000.

That's crazy...I bought a new build Seamaster 300 no date (165.0324 I think it was) direct from Watchco for just under $1800 delivered to my door about 3 years ago!

It's a great watch at 2.2-2.5k Totally not worth 4.4k. They will price themselves out of reality

The watchco SM300's have always been over priced, I think they are just trying to gouge a little more based on the prices Omega is asking for their new models. Be interested to see what Cousins and OF are changing for the parts, that's the real determiner IMHO.

They're actually doing me a favor pricing out that high. I'm about to put my SM300 166.024 on the block when I can find some free time. You're right though, the prices are going nuts.

Great when you are a seller, not great as a buyer. Glad I got mine when I did.

Very true. I actually came upon a kit last fall I picked up for $2200ish sans movement. I was going to build it out myself but ran into projects that made it impossible for me to build. I sold it for about the same price, but seeing how prices have increased I can see the build kits are going up as well.

Here's one for 3.5k. They say it's vintage but we all know what it is.

Nice watch, no way on that price, the hype on these is way out of line and inflated to sell the copies IMHO...even though they look great :)

Glad I had my watchmaker make me one last year. Cost me about $2300 all in. They are great watches but not worth over $4k.

Just to update this thread, prices have gotten super high on these. I went online to Cousins UK to check prices, and for the full kit they are $1000.00 higher than they were. Unreal. Glad I got in on the first floor ( I wish I got in on the ground floor when they were like $1400.)

Wow—i Hadn’t realized how these watches have appreciated! Mine is the “real deal” and not a rebuild.

Nuts! Was that a date model you sold? What band did it have? Watching these sell for $3300 and higher just about regularly.

Are you saying that the watch you posted a pic of is a real deal vintage piece?

Based on the pic you sent that looks like 100% new parts.

Yes, it is the “real deal”. It was part of an estate sale of a retired Omega executive and came from his personal collection. The Watch was serviced by Omega in Bienne in the early nineties and obviously wasn’t worn very much, if at all. Not for sale anytime soon!

Sold mine in June for just under 4K, I miss it but to be frank as cool as it is, it's just a touch too small. I wish I didn't care but I do for some reason...
