Rolex Oyster Perpetual
This is my Grandfather's watch, and I am hoping that someone can tell me specifically which model and approx date.
I remember him having it when I was a teenager, approx 35 years ago, and I don't believe he bought it new. IMG_5733.JPG IMG_5738.JPG Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark |

I'd say reference 6352 with a horrible refinished dial

I like it. This one has a real story behind it. Keep it as it is and if it is still working, do not service it.

Geez, it's a heirloom piece from his granddad?! I think it looks great. Wear it with pride. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you for the replies.
So I presume the dial is not original. Is it a Rolex dial or aftermarket? Curious as to why it was changed. |

No it's just been refinished. This was not unusual if the dial became discolored because of radium or moisture when the seals slightly failed. They were not collectible and so there were many independent dial refinishers world wide and many dials got refinished. Some it was totally necessary as they were very badly damaged...it was more important that the watch look and function well.

its an original dial but has been repainted and relumed .... Greg seems to dislike it but it does the job and who knows what state it was in before. If it meant it got used more and not put away then it can't be a bad thing.

Just revisiting this thread.
I want to get rid of the existing dial, as I don't like it. So I am going to get it serviced and have it polished. But would like to update the watch, so that I would actually wear it. I love the Glacier Blue dial, but don't believe they make one that would fit or that Rolex would fit one. I am sure a few of you would suggest leave it... sentimental value etc. But, I just won't wear it if I don't like it. Any suggestions? |

Rolex would probably replace it, for a price, with a service dial.
