Used complication under 20k?

Hi all, I've been looking to get a vintage Patek and am really attracted to its complications. Is it possible (or advisable) to get a used complication for under 20k? Mainly looking at the annual calendar but looking at 5134 as well. Welcoming any advise or comments. Also, how long/much does it take to send a used watch to Patek to verify authenticity? Thank you!

Unfortunately it’s unlikely at that price point unless you consider a date or seconds hand a complication . You can look at Chrono24 for an idea of what you can get for $20k. There are a few 5035s (AC) but that’s about it for a complication.

I see a 5035 for 16,200 on Chrono24. But it does not come with oem deployant clasp... Mainly just looking at 5035, 5034, 5134.

As above poster mentioned, you can get an idea of used prices for a 5035 and 5134 on chrono24. There may be some for sale under $20k. If possible, it is best to see a used watch in person and try it on your wrist. What looks good on online photos may look quite different when seen in person.

There's a 5035 on eBay at $19995 right now with make offer.

I'd save a bit more and try to find a nicer piece though - 5146... a few thousand here goes a long way in my opinion.

Also, there's a rule with watches : buy the seller first. I wouldn't have to send a watch to PP for verification because I would research the seller I am buying it from.

Do you trust sellers on Chrono24? Even if they have good feedback from other buyers? I'm not sure how good the vetting process on there, or if it's just a flea market type of situation.

Depends on who the seller is - I purchased my Breguet Tradition on Chrono 24 last year. It was a simple process and transaction. I did research the seller and he was indeed the real deal - brick & mortar and well known in the watch world - actually affiliated with a few brands.

Lots of good sellers out there but lots of bad ones as well. Just make sure you know who you are doing business with - if a problem arises do you trust this seller to make it right?
That’s the ultimate question.

Yes some of the pieces and prices in foreign countries are tempting - what it something goes awry... how quickly and easily can you get it resolved? Customs? Etc.

I personally would only buy from Chrono 24 from a US seller with very good references and verifiable information. Brick & mortar etc. worst case if something were to happen I can rely on the courts in the US or take a trip there - Covid aside.

Did you send your watch in to an AD for authentication afterwards?

I'm looking at this 5035 on Chrono for 16k... suspiciously cheap, about 2-3k cheaper than the next ones. I know it doesn't come with a Calatrava logo deployant buckle, box, or papers, but other than that can't tell from the pics why it is so cheap.

If your looking for complicated watch with finish and quality up there with Patek, then Lange is a great option to consider! Highly under rated and under priced in preowned.

No - no need to - it's a Breguet Tradtion haven't seen and can't imagine a fake one of those. Came as a complete set and came from a reputable seller that I trusted.

That's the problem - if you still want to send it in for authentication you're buying from the wrong seller.

I see the watch in question - it's in NYC

Quick research shows its at a dealer on 47th Street called Quark NYC.

Might be just me, but if I see a Patek ‘no box, no papers’ I assume one of two things:

1. The watch was stolen and pawned
2. Someone had to pawn it so you would profit from human misery

Call me snobbish but I would not touch it for a few thousands in saving.

P.S. Looking at the link above the watch comes with box and papers - if you don’t mind YG (I do) then go for it, seems like a great deal.

Maybe the seller read our post and raised the price to 17,599.

Not a fan of the asymmetrical face. Looks too funky for me.

can you save longer and pick up a 5130g? Modern size at 39mm and looks so cool!

Not a matter of how much I have, it's about how much I'm willing to spend :) 20K is about max for me on a watch.

I think the 5134R-011 is one of the most underrated Patek models and wish I had bought one new when they were available, if I come across a well used one I’ll snap it up and send it in for a service/refurb, I can see it being a future classic.
