To wear or not to wear

In 2000 I purchases a new Rolex. I Love it and want to wear it on a regular basis but then again I want to keep it like NEW. Am I too materialistic?

Just wear it. A trip to the RSC will make it look as good as new.

If I get hit by a bus tomorrow, I would like to know I enjoyed my watch today. Life is too short to keep things looking new (unless it's intended for someone else or not yours). Wear and enjoy it now, when you're on your "death bed" you will thank yourself.

You bought a Rolex 9 years ago because you wanted one and/or wanted to celebrate some event in your life. How much pleasure do you figure you have missed so far by treating it as a safe queen and not having it on your wrist to enjoy?

At the end of the day its just a wristwatch, it isn't the Holy Grail. Wear it. Enjoy it. Have it refurbished by a Rolex SC every 5 years or so.

Definitely wear it, that was it's intended purpose, and it is most definitely fit for that purpose.

A Rolex isn't an inanimate object like a diamond ring or a chunk of cash, it has a heart, so let it beat.

If you want to keep it "like new", keep it in the box
Next owner will thank you for that

Granted I'm a vintage guy, but I actually like a watch when it starts to get a few dings, scratches, a little patina on the dial. It's like personality, or the visual record of a life lived.

I don't look as good I did 20 years ago - why should my watch?

Except when I shower or go to the gym, my sub is where it should be, on my wrist where I can enjoy it. You can't take it with you.

Buddy, get your monies worth and wear it every day of your life. A watch not worn is a complete waste of money, and also a waste of a perfectly good watch.

Exactly what do you mean "love it"? How? Do you take it out of the safe and pet it every Saturday night?
WEAR it, for the love of God! Give the poor thing some history!

Life is just too short and too fragile to worry about things like this, your Rolex on the other hand isn`t!
Strap it on and wear the hell out of it!

You should wear it. Even if not everyday, at least a few times a month.

Keeping it for posterity just means that someone else is going to wear it every day and beat the crap out of your watch.

Not worth keeping under lock and key.

A Rolex looks best on a wrist.
