Mayweather is broke?

Seems like the real motivation for the fight is emerging.

Hard to believe he is broke. But at the rate he spends money, I suppose it was bound to happen. He better think of something fast. This 100 million will be gone before he knows it. And the cost of upkeep for his current assets has got to be
astronomical.

You would think some of them would learn by watching others.

Perfect example Mike Tyson had career earnings of 685M and he's broke not because he made bad investments or bad businesses decisions but he pissed it away literally

He's not broke , it's just not liquid , have you seen his properties and cars?

That's why he is trying to make a deal so he can pay his tax debt with the proceeds of this fight

Who going to help him and buy your $80+ppv

It is insane that these people with such money can go broke purely due to their reckless lifestyle

If he had that many brain cells, he wouldn't be in the ring attempting to knock someone's block off before they reciprocate the intention. There's not many intelligent boxers out there.

All those assets take massive liquid funds to maintain. Imagine his monthly nut just for his landscaping.

If he can't pay his bills, imho, he's broke.

It's incredible really. You'd think the first thing they'd do is come up with a financial plan for all their winnings.

Exactly!

Same with lotto winners that go broke.

It's shocking really.

First stop, attorney. Second stop, accountant. Third stop, a different attorney appointed simply to oversee the first two. Pay a couple of bucks, save tens of millions.

Seems simple.

Did he just learn about income tax or was it that difficult for him to set aside a chunk of his earnings to pay taxes?

Considering this is for his 2015 taxes, the IRS should deny his request and make the guy pay up now.

This guy will be bankrupt within a few years of his last fight.

These guys never really earned it in the sense that they built something from the ground up, watched it grow, and made all the correct business decisions along the way.

Should and does are two distinct things.

You know the old saying, if you owe the bank 1 million dollars the bank owns you if you owe the bank 1 billion dollars you own the bank.

The irs negotiates quite often with people and allows them extensions. I'm sure he paid some type of estimated tax.

Not on his side I just see it all the time.

Some of these guys do it right, for example Oscar De La Hoya and George Forman. They used their fame and success in the ring to catapult them into other business ventures. Mayweather is all about spending his money and showing off.

he also got into producing fights. floyd is self made. he is smart. he appears to be not the wisest in terms of spending money.

let me put it this way he is about to fight a guy who isnt a professional boxer and earn 100 million. no one else in history has ever done that.

im not even a fan.

I was going to say is that a joke? Sounded like he was naming exactly what he DID do.

Crazy he can blow through all that. The man should be approaching a billionaire the way his pay checks are written.
