Maybe try the Seiko boutique in Ginza. If there’s one store that should have a stock of any current offering, it must be that store.

But my own sources tell me it’s very hard to source. That’s why i was constrained to go grey.

Very nice watch!

I am an avid photographer and it is difficult to capture the face of that watch in all its glory. I hope that fellow member Jocke gets this watch. He takes great pix. No disrespect to the posters, this is a subtle face to capture.

Jocke's photos of the snowflake was what got me looking at GS. I haven't looked back since.

Don’t feel bad. Family Guy, your picture is pretty good.

I can’t take pictures that approach Jocke’s pictures. I don’t think Seiko’s marketing department can either.

I have the black dial. I finally realized why the 44GS is so cool though. It looks like the Millenium Falcon.

To be honest I think the black dial looks better... I was just drawn to this, as it is a boutique edition and "therefore a little more special" if you're into that kind of thing. The black dial is fire. The 44GS is cool but in this reference it needs to be thinner. 14.4mm is too much. I think if they got it down to 12 or below, this watch could be a GS backbone classic for a long time (it already is, but still).

Also, don't just sit there. Pics!!

Lovely informative write up. I did not know that there was a blue Iwate dial. It would have been a tough choice if yr model was present when I bagged my black dial.

This model was actually superseded by the SBGJ235.

Almost identical watch, with the exception of the case back.

I spoke to the GS boutique in Ginza and they said they don't have any available watches now but are expecting to have a shipment come early July, so I put my name down for one. You do have to be there physically in order for them to sell you the watch but you can send them send them an email or call them to have your name put on the list.

me a big fan of 44GS case.

It is very interesting to note that the proportion of the case makes it look very very round though I know it is round...if you could only see what I mean.
