Why Do You Wear A Rolex!
Time cost money that's why I wear a Rolex! Actually I wear a rolex because it is an extreme engineering marvel with over 200 moving parts! So I have a simple question for all of you. Why Do You Wear a Rolex? Answer that with no sarcastic coments and if you don't own one answer why do you want one? Let have fun!

Good question. For me it's a reflection of my interests in mechanical devices. Similar to my interests in classic cars (love my black 69 corvette) and firearms.

I find them very beautiful and like how they put so much effort in making high quality timepieces. As well, knowing how a mechanical watch works is very impressive and I'm sure I'll get one someday (despite my love for quartz watches but let's not go there...)!

Great question. My grandfather had a great collection and passed the love of Rolex down to my father and I have recently caught the bug.

Perhaps! I don't deny it but I will never be able to have a collection that does not include at least one quartz watch!

Ever since I was a youngster and would read the Rolex ads in magazines like National Geographic, I was hooked on the look, quality and storied history that is Rolex.

I couldn't have said it better myself :) In addition, I have a strong dislike for cheap mass made garbage, and appreciation for finely crafted items. Everything I carry daily on my person must be well made. Whether it's a Spyderco s90v paramilitary, a Laguiole en Aubrac wine opener hand made with mammoth ivory, a Rolex Submariner, or a GSM Galaxy Nexus imported from the U.K. I enjoy these things. It reflects who I am. Someone who appreciates an attention to detail and those that take pride in their creations.

I bought my first Rolex when I was in my early 50's. My rationale was simple, I've worked bloody hard all my life and now I want something back out of it.
I started off as an auto mechanic, then got as lucky as a guy can get by being hired by a big college to teach auto mechanics. I've enjoyed the life of academia for the last 30 years or so, always involved in small, intricate mechanical devices, and the watch fetish was born......

Saved $9M on a $50M project and got a 5 figure bonus, so I bought a SD to indulge my horological desires.

I wear one because I have accomplished a great feat (becoming an attorney) I feel that a rolex IMO is a status symbol. A Rolex is modern art on your wrist. Not everyone can have them. The "time" is everywhere you look, like some say "spending $6000+ on a watch" is a compete waste of money..my wife being one of them.
For me Rolex tells the world that you have busted your ass to get where you are. I of course understand that many Rolex watches are passed down but even then they are passed when the person accomplishes something. Again just my opinion.

This is true and I feel it fits my status at heart because I am the first of my friends to get a job and pay for my gas and other expences and one of the first things a rolex shows me is initiative!

I wear Rolex watches because of my respect for Hans Wilsdorf and his drive to succeed and to innovate in the watch industry. Wilsdorf was a genius of industry and gave his heart and soul to developing and perfecting the mechanical wristwatch. I also appreciate the contribution that Rolex made to the development of quartz technology.
I like the fact that Rolex is owned and operated by a charitable trust that benefits the causes related to needy children and that they do so without much fanfare at all. I'm not sure where Rolex is going from here, but where they have been is impressive enough for me to be proud to display the name on my wrist.

My passion started young as my father saved for years to acquire his SS Datejust that was handed to me after his passing.
Also, the National Geographic ads of the 80's made me want my own from a young age; they were marketed as "tool" watches back then and it amazed me the places where Rolexes were worn and who wore them. Plus, it is one major purchase that you use daily and is a constant companion. |

Why I'm wearing Rolex
I'm thinking that every human success is the fruit of a team work. A team is a group of specialists of every discipline we need in order to aim the goal we got or we have chosen to get. Watches and within all watches brands Rolex are the symbol of the success of teams. To develop and to manufacture a watch you need the skills of all persons who are working on. The chain of specialists is very long... Rolex is an example because they are particularly paying attention to the quality at all steps of the manufacturing of their watches. When you wear a Rolex you have on your wrist the quintessence of the Swiss quality.
