Suggestions on one and only AP?

Looking at the possibility of getting my first AP, but I'm new to the brand's offerings. I like the royal oaks including offshore. I also like ceramic bezel, rubber strap with deployant or bracelet, 42 to 44mm, and maybe even exhibition back. Leaning toward panda or similar dial. Looking to go preowned maybe to keep under $20k? Suggestions, expertise, opinions are welcomed. Thanks.

The classic Royal Oak with a blue dial would be a great one and only.

15500! It’s $19,200 retail so just under 20 and the perfect first IMO

You are not going to be able to get the 15500ST, since it's near impossible to get. You can always try. On the other hand get a 42mm ROO. This: https://www.audemarspiguet.com/en/wa....OO.A002CA.01/

Im leaning that way. The 15500 just doesn't sing to me. I prefer the contrast and scratch resistant ceramic bezel. Also like chrono with contrasting sub dials. Seeing some reverse pandas for around 15k, although I wished it had an exhibition case back. Thanks.

Thanks. I like the roo better than 15500. Really like the ceramic bezel for contrast and scratch resistance.

I'm liking this one...

https://www.chrono24.com/audemarspig...-id9354046.htm

How does a 42mm ROO wear size-wise compared to a YMII or D-blue? I may not get a chance to try one on any time soon. Thanks.

I'd go for the 44, 42s are a bit quaint and dated now. Sizewise 42 actually wears smaller on your wrist than those two, but it is thick and a bit top heavy, the 44s are less so as they are nicely spread out more over your wrist.

If its going to be your one and only, I'd suggest 26331st.... you'll get best of both worlds between RO and ROO.

Given your current collection I'd go with a Royal Oak. It does seem pretty blue heavy, so maybe a grey, silver, or black dial to shake things up.

For a very small budget uptick you could source a royal oak chronograph in white on black new. Probably direct from the boutique which might make the experience even more enjoyable.

15500 or 15400 if you can find one. It’s a classic and leather or rubber strap options are available.

Thanks for all the suggestions as I learn more about AP.
I definitely like the ceramic bezel for contrast and scratch resistance.
I also like the size of a 44mm.
My previous link was of an older ROO that had the rubberized bezel and was only 42mm, so I'll pass on that older version.
That leaves me with one similar to this one...
https://davidsw.com/watches/audemars...e-chronograph/
Due to depreciation (I think list was around 30k USD), price point for a SS on rubber, and ROO history, I think I'll pass on AP for the time being, unless I'm missing something?
Thanks again.

Have you also considered the new 42mm ROOs with ceramic bezel.

Tried on the black/red version and it’s rather nice, but would want to switch the strap out for the regular all black diver option.

However if you can carry off the 44s that is probably the best bet finding a reference you like.

My diver is my only watch - don’t listen to anyone who tells you AP isn’t built for wearing !

i'm about to get a 26331st blue dial as my one and only AP.

had the black themes ROO for the past 6 years, but my tastes have changed over time.

i'd get the 15300 if it was still available.

i heard the 15202 movement is a bit unreliable so won't be getting that...

For me — GT MSME 2002 — it’s a blue dialled 15450

Wramblin Wrecks are generally a skinny-wrist lot.

For your one and only AP, go classic and stand the test of time

For your criteria, I have always liked the Safari but there are so many great versions.

44 stainless if your wrist allows for it. Otherwise, I love the 42 ROO Navy (second version, with the blue dial and now discontinued). If you like forged carbon, bumblee bee is awesome if you can find one, though not sure about price. Ceramic diver is also amazing but about 5k over your limit. Regular steel diver also a classic. Too many good choices.

Any RO of course would be amazing, though maybe not as one and only go everywhere.
