My local AD just got ram raided

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-eng...caught-on-film

The shop has been in the town over 100 years

I feel for the staff who were faced with machetes at work in broad daylight. They are nice people too, purchased there on a few months back.

Good thing no one was hurt, and I’m sure they’ve got insurance coverage for the stolen merchandise. Crappy situation. They’re lucky it wasn’t the US, here it would have been gunpoint...

That’s scary. A friend of mine is an AD here in the States and he was robbed at gun point a couple years back.

Wow. I used to live in Northampton and bought my ex’s engagement ring from Michael Jones.

It’s smack bang in the centre of town and not far from the main police station. I’m pretty amazed they could drive out of town without getting stopped.

Those chaps could do well with a little better dress sense.

If I’m going to go, I would rather it be by gun than machete...

totally disgusting, a complete disregard for human life, and property,

if things keep on, jewellery shops will just have dummies in the shop,

i mean how do you stop a car, you cant, ridiculous times we live in.

My local AD has an armed guard. Is there professional security at jewelry stores in London?

Not surprising. Just going to get worse. These guys are pretty brave to be doing that in broad daylight. But, they're probably very aware that the chances of others being armed is pretty slim. Glad everyone is ok though.

Some people just don’t belong in society at large.

All of the Rolex dealers in Houston I’ve been in have an off duty police officer sitting in them. There was actually two of them in the Boutique yesterday afternoon when I picked up my new watch. The upscale mall it’s in is crazy busy for the holidays.
Never seen a car smash and grab of a dealer here but a few years ago the display windows of a mall Ben Bridge were smashed with a sledge hammer and left behind when the robbers grabbed all the watches there and ran.

A couple of years ago DeBoule, the only Patek AD in Houston, had a smash and grab in the middle of the day. 4 or 5 guys, they got jewelry, some watches. No employees were hurt. They didn't have any security at the time, who made that decision needs a talking to, but they now have at least one cop there all the time. The security video is online somewhere.

A few years ago a jewelry/Rolex store owner shot at a couple of robbers in his
store here in Santa Rosa hitting one of them.

Both my nearby AD and a friends B&M store were victims of armed invasion-type robberies. They were years apart so no connection.

Sad thing to happen to any of these nice business people.

Tourneau in Pentagon City got hit a few years ago. 800 thousand in Rolex watches. Never caught the thieves. Several other Rolex AD's in the surrounding DC area were also hit in the same time frame. No arrests. No recovered Rolexes.

Hurts to hear stuffs like this. I only hope thy have their store insured. Wouldn't it be better if they had a security guard on check? security cameras could also help get the culprits apprehended.

Not unless the security guard was armed.
