Lensbaby Composer
I picked up a Lensbaby Composer around the holidays last year, but hadn't used it a whole lot.
I used it during a little "jam session" I attended a few months back, and these are a couple shots that seemed to turn out okay. It's a manual focus lens, and I didn't have the focus right on (it's a bit behind), but it's close enough for jazz... This is 100% an effect of the optics, the only Photoshop was turning the images black-and-white. Canon EOS-5D, ISO3200, Lensbaby (50mm @ f2) |

Nice pics. Im thinking of the 2.0 for cheap on Amazon.
Question - Do you get to select how much of the frame is out of focus? as in, will turning either knob reveal more and more of the image? Looks like a super fun lens for band/gig/pub photography! |

The aperture controls the size of the area of focus. For mine, there are magnetic aperture discs that you physically swap in and out of the front of the lens with a little magnetic post. With no aperture disc, the lens is f/2. It comes with all different sizes. You focus it manually, which focuses the lens no matter how the head is tilted. Moving the head around moves the focus spot around the frame of the photograph. |
