I just got back from a week in Death Valley. BTW, I'm the other Dude (Ron).
I haven't had any time to process these, they're right out of the RAW converter. I have tons more, so stay tuned... Fantastic shots...thanks for sharing. I really like the contrast between the light on the mountains in the background vs the white sand foreground in the 4th pic from the top. Beautiful

I used to work for a guy who had them program "God" into the PBX for him - if he called your desk that is what showed up.
For all I know, he's Rockrolex... ;) |

Awesome, breathtaking and a bunch of other superlatives that I can't get a grasp of.
Siad it here before and I'll say it again, the world is a beautiful magical place. I'm real pleased that some are better at catching it than I am!!!!! J |

There is a part of Death Valley called the Racetrack. While my vehicle did not permit me to go there, there are other areas where the phenomenon occurs. Scientists still don't quite know how it happens, but they think that pieces of rock drop from nearby cliff faces onto semi-dry lakebeds. High winds move the rocks, and they leave trails. Most of the rocks are rather small, but it has been observed with rocks weighing as much as 700 pounds. The clay in the lakebeds is quite slippery under certain conditions. You can see the examples in my photos, but this video explains. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1hoiHvOeGc |

A foreboding place on earth whose beauty is both breathtaking and dangerous all at once. Thanks for the pictures.
