Icon5 Worst tv or movie period incorrect Rolex placement?

I say Argo.

How in the hell did a DSSD (possible SubC) get passed the Continuity team on this movie set in 1979????

Any others you think we're worse?

I remember reading a post on TRF about period incorrect or replica Rolexes in the movie “Wolf of Wall Street”

To be honest though, if I was paying more attention to the watches being worn by the actors as opposed to the plot of the movie, I probably wouldn’t be watching or finishing the movie. Or maybe I am not a true watch enthusiast (dun dun dun plot twist)

American Hustle. Louis CK is wearing a ceramic GMT I think. Sticks out like a sore thumb.

Meatballs - 1979 Harvey Atkin (Morty) is wearing what looks to be a submariner, it's always upside down. Where the watch head is under his wrist the entire movie. Funny movie but out of place for a sub.

There have been a couple of medieval shows lately where in the background someone noticed a Coke can, but back a few years ago in a scene from Glory, someone is wearing a digital watch. And we all know that digital watches didn't come out until just after the civil war.

+1. The worst for me is American Hustle as well. The story happens in late 70's early 80's and Louis CK is wearing a 116718.

Wife and I caught this also. She actually asked me, is that an Explorer? I said yes but not from that era. Kind of cool she noticed. We really like the show.

Although it’s my favorite tv Rolex and the reason I started collecting, the Magnum PI Pepsi GMT could’ve never happened. Magnum inherits the watch from his father who was killed in action during the Korean War. The war ended in 1953 and the first Gmt master wasn’t produced until model 6542 was released in 1954. Magnum wears a 1675 which wasn’t released until 1959. Still my favorite.

Well if we just focus on the “incorrect Rolex placement” aspect, nothing beats “Pulp Fiction”.....

There is an episode of the original Star Trek TV series where someone is wearing a root beer GMT.
