Well.... as it happened, the clouds cleared 1 hour before the eclipse and came back 1 hour afterward!
This is what I saw from my back deck. I took these with a Sony NEX5N and a 55-210 Sony telephoto on a tripod. Just a cheap camera as I didn't want to risk burning out any sensors on my better cameras, but I think the photos came out okay. Flare just before totality:  Totality: (note the stars beginning to coming out)  And just the second after totality:

Gorgeous pictures. I, rather unfortunately, worked so I didn't see anything. My neighbour was out driving & he said he saw literally about 500 birds sitting, taking over a parking lot. He said was the strangest site he's ever seen. I told him lucky these birds weren't falling from the sky. LOL

Not for the eclipse specifically but I was just outside Charleston, SC in the midst of a seriously severe thunderstorm that rolled in about 2pm and didn't clear until 3:30 or so. Obviously it got darker at the peak of the eclipse but it was already pretty dark because of the storm. We didn't see the eclipse but we saw a spectacular light show with all the lightening strikes. Those in downtown Charleston had clear skies and got a nice view of the eclipse.

Richard, I was in the exact same boat! I live in Charleston and it literally poured just during the eclipse. I later learned that it wasn't raining 2 miles from my house
 My dog was so ready too |
