My wife's Mini is a manual and it is fun to drive. The salesman sold me on the PDK. Apparently it is much quicker to let the computer shift for you. I drove several manual and PDK versions and ended up with the PDK. He was right. It shifts much quicker than I can.

My wife wanted white with tan interior but the graphite blue was just too perfect. It is like having a car that is 3 different colors. I just saw your Boxter. Beautiful car!

Just curious. Not bashing. Why would you buy a caymen over a 911?\

Love Caymans and love that Graphite Blue. I also checked out PDK after hearing about how great it was, and while it is more efficient (gas mileage, quick shifts, everything), I found that I was leaving it in auto mode on test drives. I ultimately ended up with a 7 speed, which is a silky smooth transmission too, but can see the appeal of the PDK, especially if you track it.

Enjoy that beauty!!!

Encarter, I was genuinely curious about what looks like a leather protective cover on the front of the hood. I was hoping you might explain if that's standard with the car or if it's something extra, or if it's a protective cover at all (is it a reflection of the roof?). Of course, congrats on a sweet car. I'm a Porsche fan. I had the pleasure of living about 60 feet from the Porsche dealership in Barcelona for a few months, and I always enjoyed walking by and checking out the shiny toys.

I traded my 911 C2S (3.8L 997) for a Cayman 981 2.7L, both flat-six, NA, manuals. I ran the 911 for four years as a daily driver, adding approx 40,000 miles.

The Cayman handles better and inspires much more confidence in bends. It's also prettier, cheaper to buy and insure, and gets 40 MPG on a long motorway run, c/w maybe 27 MPG in the 911. 27 MPG is typical after a spirited A- or B-road blast in the Cayman, where the 911 would do maybe 13. The interior of the Cayman is more cocooning than the 911 because the 911 has the two unusable rear seats. The Cayman has more luggage space, with front and rear luggage compartments.

My bad, I thought it was a 911 at first. Need to read these threads more carefully.

Basically all the same reasons that Hollister threw out there. Mainly, the mid-engine felt much more stable in the curves!

Just a reflection. The car was nicely polished when I picked it up. However, it does have a clear SpeedFilm wrap over most of the car.

Honestly the Cayman is more the embodiment of 911s of yore. Smaller and more nimble. With the exception of a new Targa (and GT variants), if I were ever to part with my 993 I would purchase a Cayman before a new 911 variant.

Just one Porsche guy's opinion...

I had an 83 911 years ago. It was underpowered and too small for me (I'm 6'4"). I've been in the new 911s and really like the updated and roomier feel.
We're lucky to have these awesome choices.
