Playing the game with the rules above, i would go DD 40. Not a fan of the other SS pieces.
I agree with 2 pieces over 1, in spirit.

I would go 2 modest SS pieces below the value of the DD. Can't do much better than a 114060 paired with a 116570 polar, IMO, if one was going modern.

Now if you said a DD or a Daytona and a GMT I'd say 2. But I don't like the SkyD as a whole, it's too thick to be a dressy watch like a DJ or a DD, but too dressy to be a sports watch. And as much as I like the Daytona, GMT is my favorite sports model, so 1.
