I personally think the no date is far better looking, however the date is just practical. I find I always look at my watch for the date, and could not be without it.

It took me a lot of Rolexs subs/w date, SD , and DS. When I bought my 14060m I was done. Found the sport ss Rolex I wanted to keep. Back to the bar scene the guy who had 18'' arms got the girl over the guy who was wearing a $ watch with 12'' arms. But yeah that was in the 70s!

IMHO the Sub is the classic the Sub Date is on par with GMTs.

My first was a 14060 (no date). I miss a date, so ended up buying a 16610 years later.

The original Submariner didn't have a date. Do you need a date on a dive watch? One less complication that you have to worry about if it needs repair. The 114060 is the new classic Submariner. I have owned all the sports models that Rolex makes....and have come full circle. Back to the classic 114060.
