9300 Movement Rotor

I own a Speedmaster 57 with a 9300 movement purchased from an authorized Omega dealer. When I turn my wrist I can hear the automatic rotor plate moving in both directions. Is this common and unique to the design?

This happens with my Grey Side of the Moon....I believe it's quite common from the posts I've seen.

Thanks for the reply. Based on the price I paid which was new from an authorized Omega dealer I would of thought that the design would be whisper quiet.

Is the noise a function of the size of the rotor?

Have two Omega 9300 movements and this is a common sound. Regarding price you paid expecting a quiet rotor if it makes you feel any better you can also hear the rotor spinning in my Pateks wherever I flick my wrist. I've come to love the sound actually (Pateks that is, less so on the Omegas).

I also love the sound that the aquanaut rotor makes.

I feel better knowing that this is the design of the 9300 movement. I own several Rolex models and never hear any sound. This has been a new experience but not necessarily bad. I don't know anything about the Pateks but it's reassuring to learn that this is common amongst different watch movements.

Something interesting that I've noticed: I have the same rotor sound on my 9300 DSOTM models and it has never bothered me. When I purchased the new Moonphase which has the newer upgraded METAS movement, but similar base mechanical construction (I believe), it is much more quiet. Then, with my Deep Black Sedna, it's virtually silent.

I'm not sure what Omega changed with the rotor and movement in the METAS that resulted in them being much more quiet?
