This or that poll

Hi All,

I am still weighing up these 2, one I am able to try in person in the next 7 days, the other appears a bit more challenging and may have to be a blind buy, but working on it!

Pretty much on the fence based on pics/YouTube videos alone but would welcome any thoughts between the 2

Tonda GT

Tondagraph GT Panda

There is also a three hand “panda” called the cyclops, small seconds dial in black against same silver/white dial.

Panda in this case. Love the balanced visuals. Plus you have a wider choice of strap colors and types.

That panda is one of the better looking pandas I’ve ever seen.

Wow. It’s 21k with a bracelet.

The black has an unique look. The panda looks a like any other pandas.

Ah yes, thank you - have seen that one. For some reason (and it's so hard in pictures, could be a completely different story in person) it doesnt jump out at me in the way these 2 do. Honestly couldn't tell you why!

I was completely on the fence, and am no less on the fence now One day I wake up thinking the black is just clean, has it's own identity, is very unique. Next day I wake up thinking the panda is the one.

Yes I blame the forum too. Given the lack of AP/PP/Rolex availability this place opened my eyes to other brands and PF just really sings to me.

Thanks to everyone for comments and taking the time to vote.

I must admit I started completely on the fence, and remain there!

The fact the black is arriving to try in the next week whilst the panda is not available in the country right now is perhaps unfairly skewing me toward the easier option, but I know this isn't what a decision should be made on. I'd really love to get them both in the same place to try one after the other but sadly this looks an impossibility for now.

When you are sure, then get. Just because it's here right now... but totally understand the feeling. Waiting for what you truly want is worth it, if it is the Panda. Hey, all are great choices!

Big fan of Panda dials but I slightly prefer the slick looking black, altho I would prefer the brand name at the centre top of the dial than on the right, esp when nothing is balancing it out on the left. Show us some pics when you can.

I completely get this, but weirdly the positioning of the name is kind of what makes it stand out. I wonder if it was in the middle it may just look like any other watch?

Hoping to see the Tonda GT this afternoon, will get some pics!

Love the black and the panda looks difficult to read the time on. With that said, you adapt to anything and if it takes an extra second or two to read the time, it doesn’t matter.

I have a few watches that I look at for the time and often don’t know the time after looking. I love that about them.

I was fortunate enough to try on the black dial Tonda GT yesterday, and came away really impressed by it.

I know it's been said before about certain pieces, but pics really don't do this one justice. It looks SO much better in person than picture.

The finishing is superb, and the longer you look at it the more details you spot.

The rubber of the strap combined with the light weight and slim profile of the watch make it one of the most comfortable I've worn. The only thing I could compare it to in that respect (not for a minute comparing brands or design etc but in terms of "feel") is a Patek Aquanaut 5167.

The other thing they have in common is the versatility. Like a 5167, this feels like you could wear it with swim shorts on by the pool, but it also wouldn't look out of place with a suit and tie. The 42mm size makes it work better for me in comparison, so it's ticking a hell of a lot of boxes.

I have still not been able to source a panda to try yet, I'd ideally like to try both before committing.

That said I am swaying toward the Tonda GT - I wonder if the Tondagraph with panda will feel more sporty and less versatile, whilst the jump from 11.2mm to 13.7mm will mean quite a different feel. The versatility and slim profile of this are two factors I really like which I feel may be reduced with the panda.

Still, I have the Tonda GT on hold for me for 2 weeks, so will continue the search for a Tondagraph GT Panda just so I can compare and ensure I am making the right choice.

Couple of pics below, which again don't go any way near capturing how great this looks;

Cheers

Imho the Panda is not 'dressy' (except for racing events or Polo club perhaps). Go get the TGT ... and when you find the Panda, if you like that add it too. It's the only way to be sure
