which would be worth more
Assuming both in equal condition and same vintage, which would be worth more today? A Stainless steel 1680 Red Sub or a solid gold air king with solid gold bracelet.
Why I ask is back in the day I nearly swooped my Red Sub for a solid gold Air King. Sorry if query is too vague to answer. |

The one you like best is the most valuable.

1680 Reds are eternally hot, while AirKings are a much more niche/entry market option regardless of the metal type, although also very nice.
I'm saying the Red Sub would sell for considerably more. |

Go to Chrono24.com and do the comparison, I bet the red sub is twice the price of a full gold Airking in general…

Red Sub is the winner hands down..

Yip. What L.K. Johnson said. People will queue up for a red Sub whereas an AirKing will be a hard sell at time. Perhaps even more so for a gold AirKing which really is an acquired taste, firmly in had-core collectors territory. A terrible pain in me brain, Loraine You're drivin' me insane |

When is stainless steel worth 10xs it's weight in gold?
When it is an all original gold sub. |

I believe the red Sub would sell for 3 to 4 times a solid gold Air King.

Glad I did not do the swap, plus today, regardless of value I prefer a S S sub to a solid gold watch and bracelet (which was desirable in the 1980s).

indeed tastes have changed. I haven't seen full gold as a desire for a watch for a while now. Two tone is okay but stainless steel prevailing hard
