Hi everyone,

Thinking of picking up a new rolex,

whats everyones thoughts on

The batgirl or batman vs the new submariner starbucks?

Is the Starbucks worth the extra money as opposed to the batman.

You've not been here long Fin, so you may get a pass.
But, investment is a very dirty word in some quarters here.

Ok not so much an investment piece. Because I dont plan on selling it. That was worded wrongly haha. I guess I like to buy things I know will hold value as I deem it as more worth it. Just a personal thing I guess.

A lot of the people around here do not care for the Rolex nicknames. They prefer everyone use the model number.

To help you out, I will answer your question in a way that better suits the purist around here - I prefer the 126710 over the 116710, but just slightly. I would be happy with either. That being said, I think every collection should have a Submariner. If given the choice, I would start with a 124060. By the way, I would not pay over retail.

Whichever color combination and bracelet style you like, that is the watch you should get.

I get that nicknames are easier to remember than reference numbers but this has to stop. And I'm not just calling out the OP.

There is nothing wrong with considering future resale value, most of us on here have probably sold a few watches along the way whilst building our collections. I agree the investment threads are a bit tedious, but considering future value is different from buying as an investment.

As for nicknames, i don’t tend to use them (although i occasionally am guilty of using ‘Pepsi’), but then i have become a watch nerd and therefore am very familiar with the reference numbers. For ‘normal’ folk and newbies, i suspect nicknames make life a lot easier, and not everyone should be expected to become a watch enthusiast/expert/nerd to contribute to this forum.

Not suggesting i like the nicknames, but don’t really get the beef with them either.

OP - but the watch you prefer. If you ever end up having to sell, the Sub and the BLNR’s will all be easy to move on. I’m not a fan of the Sub, but i do like the GMT and thing the extra complication makes it more interesting. My preference would be the Jubilee bracelet BLNR (batgirl!) rather than the oyster. But this is all personal preference.

Buy the one you like the most or the one which has the most useful functions.

I work across multiple time zones. I find a reference time function very useful. So if I couldn't have both, I would go for a GMT over a diver. But not the BLNR.

Get the one that you like the most. Nobody here can tell you which is better because neither one is better. Personally I would prefer the LV over the BLNR because I don't care much for the bright blue on the BLNR.

You really can't go wrong with Subs or GMT's. As others have said buy what you think looks better / functions are more useful for you. If we're going with nicknames here, Batmans are no longer in production, Batgirls are a couple of years in and Starbucks just came out. All three are hard to obtain right now if you go the AD route.

The nicknames though... it gets on my nerves sometimes.
Well, I say go for the Batman. But your choice and what suits you matters most.

Wait a minute. OP is the one who recently got scammed out of £11,000.

And now he’s back and wants to plunk down £12-15,000 on another watch?

The ones you’re looking at, all hold their value well. If you like the sub better than the gmt....then yes, it’s worth the price. Get the one you’ll love on your wrist the most.

You are right.

OP, did you get your watch or money back from that transaction?

For new watch, just get the watch that sing to you louder, both of them are good.

Why were you selling your 116610LN in the first place? It’s was an amazing piece and a great achievement for your age

No, imo starbucks is not worth the extra money right now as it will probably drop a bit once more hit the market. But never below the batman.

Get what you like. Can’t go wrong with either of these. I’d go starbucks bc i prefer the non pcl look of the sub.
