I loved it in 1987 when I bought it and loved it as it got a few nicks, dings and bracelet strech over the years. I still love it, especially when it returned home after being refurbished at the RSC in PA in November '09, where it received a new dial, hands and bracelet . . .

I really wanted a DJ but where I was then (1984) the used ones were $600 and up, and the used subs were $400 and up, so I got a sub. I really like it but I always wanted a tt DJ, so I bought a real clean used one here this summer. The sub has a hard time finding my wrist now. My only dilemma is whether to leave the original white dial on or put a champagne dial on? The white dial is so readable but I like the traditional champagne. Any opinions?

Never actually considered putting my DJ on a strap before, but after looking at a couple others posted I might have to consider trying it sometime.

I absolutely love my '78 16013 DJ and it won't be too much longer before it's considered vintage

It was my first Rolex in 1985. I saved for it for six months. It was a wonderful experience. I wore it through everything for 9 years. I miss it. Wish I would have kept it. Iconic I think. Enjoy.

Mine is for service! One of my all time favorite watches is the datejust and is a great change up when you wear sports watches daily.

the only way you can get a original datejust with a strap is if you buy a 18k gold watch.

Thanks, I like it a lot too. I actually just got a black gloss finish croc strap for it from the wife for Christmas. Now I have two options, casual (brown croc) and formal (black croc).

I have owned several Subs,GMT's over the last 40 years. Up until 2 months ago a GMT 2 has been my favorite. I recently bought a nice used 2 tone DJ that I like more than any other Rolex I have owned. I like it so much I just bought an older SS with jubilee band.
