41mm Daytona that actually measures 41 and not 39 would be amazing

A Daytona 41mm will be detrimental to the power/weight ratio of your racing car ....

It is possible they eventually increase the Daytona to 41 or larger in order to correct the alignment of the 3 and 9 subdials

If they increase it to 41mm does that make it a 39.5mm?

This. Its small aerodynamics adds bhp and lessens drag on gear changes.

I would personally welcome a 42mm Daytona with the same case as the YM42. Keep the 40mm in the catalogue and add the 42mm. I struggle to use the chrono function in a 27mm dial. My eyesight no longer is what it was

Rolex seems to be enjoying larger size watches, so Daytona getting bigger makes sense. I need to get one before they ruin it.

Ugh I hope not. I love the Daytona the way it is! It feels amazing on the wrist. I hope that if they do make it bigger they find a way to make it thinner at the same time so that it feels the same on the wrist, I doubt it though because we are talking about Rolex not AP or PP. To me the current PM Daytona is perfect. It looks and feels like nothing else that Rolex makes. For me, in gold, it has similar wrist precense as an AP RO but more durable, I think. I don’t think it needs to be much bigger because the pushers extending outside of the case actually add some size to the watch

Might happen at the next Daytona update. In about 8 years.

I wouldn't be too sure about this. I see it happening in the next year or two. As of right now, majority of the lineup has been updated with new movements minus a few models. Revamping of Daytona is coming up...

But will it really? Isn’t the Daytona essentially the same for 20 years (since 2000) except for a ceramic bezel introduction? Isn’t our technically time for something different?
I could actually see them releasing 12 series and changing the white to a *real* panda dial (not that it needs more hype but a lot have said they’d love this). |

I'm betting next year its the Exp II, released in 1971 means next year is 50th anniversary, Rolex won’t miss that marketing opportunity. I say ceramic bezel and down to 41mm.

Go big or go home.
That midget size dial and sub dials have bothered me for ages and certainly to most people over 40. They are about as useful as a Hellcat in a shopping centre carpark. Go 44mm I say |

My predictions for the next daytona:
43mm Rotating fluted ceramic bezel Exhibition caseback for the manual wind movement Integrated compass 316l stainless steel for improved durability |

Would totally love a "Daytona II" in a 42-43mm size. Love the Daytona line but they just wear too small for me I'm afraid.

I think it could happen. Along with the GMT, while slimming down the lugs. I am to get the GMT in 2021 and Daytona in 2022, so glad I got my datejust and subs now and have a choice if daytona and gmt changes.

If anything Rolex would just bring the larger case used in WG and RG models to the smaller Daytonas like they did with the latest OF YG Daytonas. Typically YG Daytonas are the smaller 38.5mm size with the smaller right hand lugs, but with the latest update to the OFs, Rolex decided to bring the wide case for the first time to YG. I could see similar happening to the SS, TT, and full bracelet YG. Probably first with Ceramic versions of the TT.

If anything, they would change the steel case to match the slightly larger gold Daytonas. But I doubt that would happen— and the size is perfect anyway

I think its just a matter of when no if. The only drawback we hear really is that it wears small which it does and for some it has legibility issues. So going up size they should do 42 as I think going up 1mm in a chrono won't make much of a difference at all.
At 42 it would be perfect, same as the Speedy and by the way no one confuses a Speedy with a dive watch. |

1. Rolex doesn't go around updating sizes of their watches unless there is an upgrade coming for that model. 2. 3135 upgrade to 3235 was coming to Submariners and they didn't in real upgrade to 41 but made it similar to previous generation (some say it wears even smaller). If they would have made the bezel again at 40mm and trimmed the lugs, it would become way smaller and to maintain a modern size they had to increase to 41mm bezel size. 3. Daytona has already 72 hours of power reserve and already have ceramic bezel and it's not looking for an upgrade within 5-6 years and updating just to add 1mm makes absolutely no sense when they are selling Daytona even before it manufactured completely! They don't go around 1mm to watches and that's lot of effort. Submariners were an off-case where they tried to trim lugs and had to increase bezel to maintain a certain size. In reality, the current 41mm wears smaller than previous 40mm generation. |
