Oris Announces Calibre 400, an In-House Movement

I am subscribed to Oris's email newsletter because I used to own one of their watches. They have been sending out emails for the past few days about a new in-house movement they developed and were planning on announcing today.

They did, and it's called Oris Calibre 400. Notable features include anti-magnetism, a five-day power reserve, and a 10-year warranty.

See more about this movement at this link: https://oris.ch/en/movement/72/CALIBRE%20400

What does TRF community think of this movement's potential? It seems they haven't announced a watch that features the movement yet, so it seems more news is coming.

Iris is part of swatch group. Question is why? They have access to all the movements from ETA.

10 year warranty forces the competition to get better too. I love it.

Oris is independent and uses sellita in 99.99% of the watches they sell.

A good move by Oris.
In other news, Fortis are now using the Kenissi/Tudor movement (rebranded as 'WERK 13') in their new Flieger GMT.

I think that line is probably the best looking range of watches in the so called sport watch segment at the moment.

It's good to see them coming back with new models and a rejuvenated approach. And now using a Rolex (sort of) movement - interesting how things have turned out, given the history of Fortis, Harwood and Rolex.

I'm liking this trend towards longer warranties. First richemont moving most of their brands to 8 years and now Oris offering a 10 year. :)

Yup! Panerai comes with 8 years, Rolex 5, Bvlgari 5, and Patek Philippe still is an insulting 2.

So far the King of mechanical timepiece warranties is Panerai's 1117 / 1118 / 1119 with 70-year warranty including service.

As a proud Patek owner I must sadly agree. 2 years is a joke. PP needs to get MUCH better at warranty and service in general. It's abysmal for a flag ship brand.

Yup. Seeing the long service times is kind of insane for a multibillion dollar brand with very healthy margins.

As a waning brand, it should surprise no one at this point about PP. Best bet is to start a campaign demanding a 5-year warranty on all pieces. Since you're negatively affected by this short warranty period, you should post here on TRF's PP section and all online PP discussion boards to have everyone e-mail Patek demanding a longer warranty period.

You could also contact magazine editors, etc with a letter about this. It really is up to you what brands you choose to support, and you have the power to change things you find lackluster.

https://www.patek.com/en/contact

Imho at the pricing they're asking it should be 10 year warranty, first service free at 7 years, and service times of less than 8 weeks for basic models and small complications (annual calendar, WT, etc) and 12 weeks for most complications. What are service times up to nowadays?

Wait, only 2 years total? No additional 3 years when you register it on their site??? Reason i ask is JUST got the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo S and it has 3 year standard, with 2 more added when you register it on their website. My Muse / wife and i discussed the typical AP, AP thin, and also showed her the PP and we both agreed the Bvlgari is the winner, especially if you compare the AP thin (and price) to the Bvlgari.
