Turquoise OP 41 or explorer 1

Comparing these 2 watches any pros or cons? Let me know your thoughts. Trying to purchase my first watch.

As a first watch, Exp 1.

But this is kind of an apples and oranges comparison from a style perspective. Would make more sense to be trying to decide between a black OP and Exp.

Explorer for me, awesome watch. The OP41 has the new 32 series movement in though if that's important to you.

It is widely rumored the Exp1 may get the movement updated in 2021.

OP 41 has a new generation of moment. i would wait for the exp 1 to get the same update (2021?) if you need it today or soon then OP 41...the movement makes a big difference and is a lot more advanced.

Yeah, been there, done that.
Only you can decide, and it is indeed going to be a bee_yatch.

These were just the 2 I expressed the most interest to when talking with my AD. Anyone have know what the waiting time is usually like for the explorer? I know the OP is really hard since it’s brand new

The new OP seems too trendy for me. Really cool but maybe as a 4th-5th Rolex to wear when in the mood.

Wait till explorer one becomes 41mm. It is inevitable to happen within next 5 years. I would hold of buying a 39mm watch, it is the new 36mm. If the Sub and OP moved up in size.......

My buddy just got the OP41 in yellow and the explorer 1. My vote is the explorer 1 for the flatter bezel, the better clasp, and the Mercedes hands.

If you have a bit of a collection and need a splash of colour, add the OP41.
If not, the Exp1 is a better bet as an all rounder.

The Explorer is an Icon; the OP is a Wild Card!!! Choose your poison!!! I think I'd potentially go for the better lume and time honored design of the Explorer but I wouldn't know until I had to make the choice.

Without having seen the OP41 in person I would be more inclined to stick with my Explorer in this situation. As others mention above I like the lumed dial, bezel, and clasp more on the Explorer.

If it happens it'll only make the current model more desirable

Explorer – Rolex' modest but self-assured style icon.

Don't wait for a movement update – it's not as if the current movement is inferior in any way.

Also, grab it while you can as the Exp is the only remaining 39mm model.

If it's a first watch definitely explorer. May want to get it now while it is the only 39mm in the range. It will probably get increased to 41 when it gets updated, making the 39 quite desirable.

Both great choices however out of the 2 I much prefer the Op41 the Tiffany blue is really stunning in person. My brother has the Explorer it’s really nice but doesn’t excite me like the op dose however if it’s a one and only watch and you don’t intend on buying any more then go with the Explorer it’s a fare better all round one and done watch.

On these two choices alone, I would pick the Explorer. As I am on the waitlist for one. Personally the watches I own, I can wear them on any occasion or with any attire. Within reason. Similar to a few years ago, Candy white VW's, Audi's and BMW's were all the rage here in the UK. Now the used market is flooded with them, selling at a cheaper price than other colours. I just hope this doesn't happen to the new OP's.

Regarding the 39mm Explorer and waiting for the "upgrade" to 41mm. Some purists still think the 36mm is the perfect Explorer. The 3,6,9 dial looks at home on the 36mm and on the 39mm in my opinion. If they increase it to 41mm, a lot of people will believe that is too big for a 3,6,9 dial, flat sapphire and non domed bezel.

I like both watches but I would choose the Explorer by a mile. It's a watch that stands the test of time and only more recently been getting a bit more love.

The OP is a nice watch but I think a lot of people are being clouded by the colors. Dial colors are usually trendy for a short period of time. The brain after a while will get bored of the color.

Explorer I. More iconic, nicer and will probably be more of a collectible piece. OP41 is certainly more flashy, cool.
