How can I confirm authenticity of a 5167A Khaki Strap

Hello everyone

I found a 5167A Khaki Strap for sale
I did not know that there are replica ones out there that look very much alike so I got worried about the authenticity of the one that is for sale.

Is there a way to tell if the strap is original or not?

I found some replica strap pictures online and they do like the real one a lot. The inside markings, Patek Logo, the D38 code etc on the back are all the same. I checked black rubber band on my watch and I did see one difference. I wanted to confirm if that is a tell, and if there are other ones that I can check...

On my authentic black rubber band, when you look at it closely from the side, there is a thin line that goes all through the band. I realized the replica Khaki Band did not have that (that is the only difference I saw)

I asked for the close up images of the band from the seller. I will also post those when I receive them.

This is the thin line I am referring to: (it makes a curve right before it enters the case)

This is the replica band pictures I have found. It matches every detail except that line.

Any info is appreciated

Also look at how the replica band fits like crap around the lug area.

The genuine one will have 2 steel lugs which lock into the case to stop the edges of the strap from misaligning with the case.

This is a black strap from that same person using replica khaki strap on his replica 5167A. Basically this black strap is also fake and it basically looks exactly the same as my authentic black rubber strap on my Aquanaut and it scared me...

As you can see from the last picture I posted, which shows the inside section of the replica black band, it has those 2 steel lugs and it is identical to the original.

So far, the tells I have seen are that thin line on the side and how it fits

the replica doesn’t seems to fit well on the 5167. the original one adjusts to
the lugs perfectly.
and, as for your question, the original one does have the thin line on the side. not only the khaki one but the blue from the 5650g as well (although on this one the line is in a different position).

from what I have seen so far, if the strap has that thin line on the side, most likely it is authentic. None of the replica straps I have seen have that.

It’s rubber. It’s cheap crap anyway. What is a fake rubber bracelet?

If you can’t tell the difference, then how does it affect you or wearability?

When you are going to pay $2.000 for a rubber bracelet, and when there are very similar looking bands out there, you want to make sure...

Understood unfortunately or fortunately discussion of fake anything is against forum rules and for good reason.

Don’t be a fool and pay thousands for an aquanaut strap.

Think that's bad, go check the Plisson thread in the open discussion and see what some people are paying for a shaving cream brush......

Wow. 2000 USD. Rubber B has indicated they will be coming out with rubber straps specifically for the Aquanaut. I would wait for this. The quality will be as good as the original strap. Also, I will not be surprised if they come in different colors including green/khaki. Expect it to be around 200 so much less than buying the OEM in the secondary market.

Are you gonna wear this $2000 strap or just keeping as an invest?

Honest reply, please!

It will be obvious once you hold and flex it. I bought a green rep strap, and it was so bad, I didn’t even bother putting it on.
