Unless the particular sample that OP would be buying has indeed served to time a spatial vessel, it's really useless to wank on something as intangible as "history" or "heritage".

No I don’t think so. One cannot simply erase something because it does not suit their argument. The reality is that watch beat out several brands including Rolex and I yes legacy is preserved. Now, what is it the YM is known for?

No, that watch didn't do anything in particular, especially not travelling to space.
In addition, the watch bought by OP isn't even part of the same series than has a claim to fame. It is a derivative.

So there's little heritage to grasp onto, and one has to look into distant, indirect history to claim any bragging rights. Which is a tenuous argument to put forth.

And if you're going through that tortuous route, then the YM can make the very same claim of having preserved the legacy of the Submariner, of which it is a sister series, and more distantly of the Oyster which famously crossed the Channel.

Yes, we got far afield here (not that there is anything wrong with that) by my initial comment was aimed at another that in my estimation was overly negative regarding the omega without factual basis. My argument was based on the accuracy of the movement, antimagnetic nature of the movement, etc and eventually to the legacy. But for me, omega wins this showdown. I also like the added complication.

I limited myself to discussing the historical part, as I was rather in agreement with the rest of your argument that technically the Omega wasn't inferior to the Rolex.

Maybe there are finer points where pros and cons could be argued, such as the movement architecture or the steel, but overall and in everyday use, it's probably a tie and really up to one's preference.

I’d go for the YM. The TT oyster bracelet alone is better

Very different watches. I tried on the blue dial moonphase Omega and it was just too thick but it might wear differently on you. Specification wise the Omega in my opinion is better. In regards to the look of the models you have posted I prefer the Yachtmaster.

I use the YM timing bezel when I swim. I wouldn't swim laps with my moon watch.

I just looked at that moon phase watch (blue version) at my AD and loved it. That Yacht Master does nothing for me and to my eyes looks like more of a woman's watch. For you the Omega is the way to go. Good pick!

The left subdial of this Speedy is busy and hard to read. Between these two I'd pick the YM. Full disclosure I'm a fan and own a different Speedy and YM.
