New 38mm Chrono bracelet sizing

Hey guys. Just completed a trade where I gave my 41mm Chrono for a 38mm one. I'm very happy with the new watch and love the size but I can't get it to fit the way I like. I take a link out and it's a bit too tight. I put it back in and it's a bit too loose.

Now I ask for a 1.5 link and the AD wants to charge me 400 bucks (cdn).

So I just spent 25k on a brand new watch and in order to get it to fit properly I have to get nickel and dimed just to enjoy wearing it?

Anyone run into this issue before?

AP should either include one 1.5 link with every new Royal oak purchase or it should be free of charge if the buyer determines they need it. Being hit up again for $ is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

Anyways here's a pic.

Interested in seeing the drop when you have you hands up in the air.

I kind of have the same issue with my 14450. Living in Texas where the weather can be freezing one day and +90 degrees the next day, I have to live with it being a bit loose to account for any swelling that may occur.

Just asked for a friend here in the UAE and it cost him US$435. It’s a small price to pay given how much the watch is.

Just do it and don’t look back.

Very similar where I live. The temperature can fluctuate by 25 degrees in a day.

I hear ya. It's not the money it's the feeling of not getting value. A brand new watch should fit...period.

That smaller diameter bracelet is much trickier for a perfect fit in my experience with my 15467. Love that new 38mm chrono...congrats! If you have to pay a little extra, 3-4 years from now you won’t even remember but will have years of enjoyment of the watch.

Nice pickup! As others said, this is a small price to pay and you’ll forget about it to enjoy the piece..

Did you pick this piece up from Louis Black by chance? I was under the impression that this specific chrono is a “boutique only” piece and therefore we couldn’t get it in Canada?

Cheers

I have never purchased a watch that fit without taking a link out. They short changed it if you ask me. Def unisex I guess. Who knows, I love it. By the way,
I’m quoted four months on the link

It’s AP, patek does the same thing. And if you buy a Daydate, they charge you $1k for an extra link. Sure it’s good, but the AP link is hand finished.

As others have said, just get the right fit and you will be able to enjoy it for years to come.

How much did you have to pay? I was told by the sales if I have to buy a full bracelet it's about $2k

I went through the same thing and feel same way you did. It was either too loose or just barely comfortable enough to wear but usually tight. To make matters worst, I had to order and wait for the link, pay for shipping, then deal with the cold/somber attitude of the boutique. The cherry on top was the dummy put the link backwards and I had to tell him to fix it, all in all waste of time and money and sitting in a boutique for an hour with this guy (I wont name them). Unfortunately there is no way around it, do yourself a favor and get the 1.5 links, its worth it and you will truly enjoy the watch more. You paid a lot for it and it should fit you right.

I agree with the OP. For that amount one of the links should be a 1.5 link, especially since the clasp isn't micro-adjusting. I had to buy one for my 25680 and then 25690 because the fit is just better. Before buying the 1.5 link, I wore it with the extra link because of the stiffness of the bracelet.

Did the same when I had my 15400, it’s a tough pill to swallow but worth it

That is a beautiful watch! I agree that AP, Patek and Rolex should always include 1.5 links with these expensive watches on bracelets.

I bought a 1.5 link for my 15202 and it made all the difference. Same for my wife's Nautilus. 2 or 3mm can make all the difference in comfort.

I wouldn’t get too bothered by it. I bought a Patek 5711 a few years ago and my AD charged me for the 1.5 link. All the APs that I’ve had required a 1.5 link for proper fit.

Unfortunate but that's just how it is. As someone mentioned a link for a day date I believe is ~$800 each link

How does the face feel on this in terms of looks compared to a Daytona? Even though it's 38mm does it feel bigger than a tona?

What is the width of the clasp/bracelet on these 38mm ROCs?
