Speedmaster waterproof/water-resistant

Hey all,

I'm considering purchasing a speedmaster, however, struggling to find whether the watch is actually waterproof or water resistant.... Can't find a definite answer.

Do you swim/shower with yours? Or is it too risky to go near water?

Choose a different watch for regular use in the water. The Speedmaster Professional isn't intended for such use.

Wearing it on a rainy day, splashing it while you're washing out your coffee cup, or rinsing your Speedmaster under the tap very briefly after a gentle cleansing shouldn't cause trouble, but I don't recommend wearing it while you take a swim at the beach or pool.

I don’t know of any watch that is truly waterproof.

At 50m, the speedy can get splashed and briefly submerged but I wouldn’t go swimming with it .

I've swum in a Speedy without problems. It might not be the wisest thing to start throwing the kids around in the sea given the chances of accidentally pressing a pusher but they are pressure tested. 50m isn't a diver but it is a sports watch.

I personally wouldn't swim with or take one in the shower. I've had two brand new CK2998 LE's that had condensation after very light exposure to a drip of tap water. when cleaning them.

None of my professional models have had the same issue but I don't expose any of them to anything more than a clean with a damp cloth now, I'm not prepared to risk it.

I know lots of people have used their's in water without issue but once you experience the results of a lack of water resistance it makes you far more cautious.
