Trade a few Nautilus for RM 67 Extra Thin
Would I be nuts to trade a few Nautilus for a RM 67 Extra Thin? I love Patek but I feel like switching it up. And if not RM what’s a good Patek to consolidate into $100-250K? Bored and need to do something.

I’d trade it into a 67-02 or 11-03 or 35-02.

5970p.
Though I wouldn’t move a blue 5711 if that’s what you have. RM are nice but hard to say which model would satisfy for the long term.

Yup 67-01 in Titanium is the one I love. 67-02 cool but no date. I tire quickly of watches without date. 5270 or 5970 also interesting but I’ve never had a manual wind watch.

“...trade a few Nautilus.” I love it! How many Nautilus to you own?
Still trying for my first. |

In my country, RM is known as (Rusak Melulu)
Rusak means : broken Melulu means : always The movement in RM is like AP, which is easy to die/broken. Patek is better. |

Not nuts at all. I’m considering doing the same. Admittedly for a measly 010. :)

It’s apples and oranges but for my money the watch to consolidate into is none other than the 5370P. Go ahead and try to argue it’s not the best modern Patek. Bare minimum it’s in the conversation.

Mr Mille killed the game. Made super expensive watches and everyone got hooked on it. Certainly gained him a phonebook full of millionaires and billionaires for his next watches he needs to offload.

Just don’t see the RM designs as maintaining a timeless quality. There may be an outlier in the bunch but I can’t help but think they will age like 80s fashion never to be seen again.

I would stay with PP and upgrade. I am not a fan of RM and think tastes will change over time and the potential to get crushed in a sale or trade is real.

Timeless, classic is another name for Old. Just saying. Most of us don’t own watches long enough for this to matter.

I would stay in the Patek arena — how about a 5970p. That’s somewhat of an endgame type of reference.

Thanks for all the great feedback both positive and critical. The two accounts that recommended 5370P are posters I respect based on years of following your other posts. I need to see that one in person. I believe my friend has one so I’ll work on it. From pictures I liked it but couldn’t understand its premium to say 5170P. Admittedly I’ve never seen an enamel dial.
I’m not leaving Patek (or Rolex for that matter). My Instagram account is PatekAddict which tells you where my watch addiction is focused. But I’ve admired (and sometimes hated) RM for at least 12 years and it may be longer. I agree the model I like will lose money but it’s my favorite model overall at a price I can justify. There are plenty of models I love for the technology or at $300K but they are just to thick for me to be comfortable wearing. Someone asked how many Nautilus I have. I have 4 and 3 Aquas. My point was that’s a lot of redundancy. It didn’t really happen on purpose. Wanted 5167A, 5711 Blue and 5726 but they weren’t available. So I ended up buying others 5167R and 5711 White as I was able to source (before market went bonkers). I have a 5396 grey dial that I use for the very few times I need a dress watch. So all that leads me to be inescapably drawn to RM. if I buy and hate I’ll sell and move on. Just trying to talk through the choice to let a 5711 or two go as they probably aren’t replaceable with my name on papers. Anyway rambling post but I enjoy the forum and everyone’s feedback. I’ll post pics if I do the trade. A friend is letting me borrow an RM 30 for awhile to test my sickness. We’ll see. |
