Went to go set the time this morning and the crown stayed in my hand lol. Weird. Any idea how long I might be without the watch for when I drop it off?

What a bummer....as quoted, I think it is about 4-6 weeks for the US RSC. I hope you have an amazing watch to keep you company as that stunner goes to the spa.

May be the detent pin, easy fix for qualified watch mechanic. Be sure to get OEM part!

Strange that as Scott is a watchmaker and I can't really see him offering advice that would bugger anything up.

Yeah I pretty much meant that I would be scared to attempt to even try that because I don't have the expertise. Don't want to do even more damage

Knowing myself I would probably end up bending or breaking something

Take it to your nearest AD see what they think.

PS. First time I see this. Is there any history with this watch? Did you buy it recently? second-hand? Did you have it serviced?

I would take to an AD. Most of them have rolex trained watchmakers that would fix it in 30 minutes while you wait, assuming it's just a loose stem lock in the keyless works. If, on the other hand, the stud that retains the stem is worn or broken, it will need a full service.

I would avoid the hassle and sell that broken watch to me. Let's say for $2k because it's broken? ;)

Have had the watch about 2 years no issues. Hadn’t worn it in about a week so was odd. Does it make any difference in timing if I drop it off at the RSC on 5th Avenue in NYC?

May be a bit quicker since you are dealing direct with RSC, and there is no shipping back/forth; however, 4-6 weeks is still expected turnaround time at the repair facility.

I'm sure that they will fix it up for you. Might even fix it while you wait, so plan to be there for a few minutes.

There is a little detente to hit that releases the crown and stem. but given that its a rolex, I would not attempt it myself.

Sorry for the mishap. That’s an awesome Daytona though. I’ve very recently noticed a couple celebs wearing this exact reference. Maybe it’s the next big thing in Daytona’s.

I was thinking the same thing. It’s probably fairly easy to cross thread those threads. I would bet a crown tube is an automatic replacement every service.

I had this happen to my 1680 submariner. Pushed it back in and carried on working ...

However, after some advice on here I took it to my AD, they fixed it in a few minutes. It was just the detent screw (as suggested) that locks the pin in place and is very common to work loose.
