Intro & first Rolex!
Hey all! I'm Chris and this is my intro post. I've been appreciating mechanical timepieces and the Rolex brand for a while but it was only recently I got to a position financially where I felt comfortable buying such an expensive watch.
I decided on a GMT Master II since I travel quite a bit and have coworkers in different timezones. So this watch being an iconic Rolex with a useful complication was a good fit. I wanted the GMT heritage from the original Pan Am pieces with the red/blue "pepsi" bezel but quickly found out that the stainless steel version was crazy hard to get. However, I discovered the 2014 White Gold version 116719BLRO with the ceramic bezel and that felt even more special to me, while being relatively easy to pick up on the secondary market. So last November I pulled the trigger, and I've been a happy Rolex owner ever since! Some reflections after 4 months of ownership: * Great as a daily wearer for everything: office, gym, swimming, whatever * Jumping hour hand very useful not just for travel but also daylight saving (should be standard on all Rolex IMO) * Ceramic bezel is beautiful and changes colors depending on the light from deep blue to purple & almost black * Gold has awesome heft but very well balanced * I think most non-WIS people are not aware that white gold is a thing that exists Pictures:      Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
