I think the correct question is “which first”? Ultimately it’s good to have both.

Blro.
Those that say blnr, it’s because they couldn’t get blro

I have owned the BLNR for over two years and I just took delivery of my new BLRO last Tuesday. Prior to receiving my BLRO, I would have read your comment, rolled my eyes, and thought "this guy doesn't know what he is talking about...whatever!"

Now that I have had the BLRO on the wrist for a week...I read your comment and think, "OK this guy is kinda right!"

LOL, no.

The reason BLRO gets more votes, however, IS partly due to the greater difficulty in obtaining one… there is a group that sets their preferences based heavily on perception, scarcity etc above all else.

Many (most) who can get a BLNR can get a BLRO. At least I can - a few extra thousand isn’t significant.

I was initially interested in the blnr, and had asked my ad for one. But she called and asked me if I wanted the blro (oyster or jubilee, my choice) and I went with blro on jubilee.

When I saw the blro in person it sort of killed the blnr in my opinion. There was simply no comparison, as similar as these watches are at the end of the day.

I think many folks’ opinions on this question are also driven by what they have in their collection. Because I have the sub 41 date, I felt the blro would fit nicely with it (and z-blue milly), as opposed to blnr. More color and more variety.

This makes a lot of sense to me. The BLNR just doesn’t have enough color if you already have the sub 41.

BLRO on Jubliee is the perfect compliment. What’s sad is I have never seen this watch at any AD. The only BLRO I’ve seen is the oyster which just didn’t do anything for me.

I don’t disagree. If you’re going to have a Submariner and a BLNR, you need a 3rd Rolex to break things up a bit. I still prefer the BLNR over the BRLO.

I actually prefer the BLNR… but my better half prefers the BLRO… so in time I will try to get both, nothing wrong with extra colours haha

True. I could have gotten a BLRO if I wanted one. I did ask about both. Only difference is that I was told it would likely be a longer wait. Either way, I still preferred the BLNR, and always have.

I would go BLRO on the poll.

Which, funny enough years ago as a BLRO was my first Rolex, I use to think the colors were a bit much and wished they were more subdued, in which case the BLNR is actually better on that end and probably daily life. At this point though when I see a GMT I feel like it has to be a BLRO

I've owned both. BLRO is definitely the 'better' color. The history behind it as the original GMT. The difficulty they had in manufacturing a red ceramic bezel at the start. That blue/red just pops when you wear it. You can make a credible argument it's Rolex's best watch. You can tell just by looking at the market market price that people value it more.

With that said, BLNR is an easier watch to wear day-to-day. Blue/black is more low key and is easier to dress up or down, whether it's with basketball shorts or in a suit. The BLRO has always felt more 'posh' to me. Some days I felt uneasy wearing it if I am just in low-key attire.
