Good because Disney stock was down a bit and they own National Geographic.

I'm assuming this was to the Society, which is non-profit.

Yeah, I recently discovered Nat Geo was part of Disney, not just the TV channel but pretty much all of it.

BTW, the stock isn't down a bit; it's down a lot. They lost over 100 billion in market capitalization over the last year or so.

Pathetic organization. I don't know how you can screw up a company that owns marque brands like Star Wars, Pixar, Marvel, ESPN, etc. But that's what they're doing...Anyway, I suppose that's worthy of a dedicated thread in the General Topic forum.

Excellent. And just one day after I published my story about the recent donations from the Foundation.

The National Geographic Society is a nonprofit organization head-quartered in Washington DC.

The National Geographic Channel, National Geographic Magazine and other related media are managed under a joint venture owned by the Walt Disney Company and the National Geographic Society.

Disney, for profit, owns 73%. The nonprofit organization, National Geographic Society only owns 27%.

But it looks like Disney donated to the nonprofit organization. So that’s good.

Rolex Donates to National Geographic

The two non-profits are mum about the $value of the contribution. But it will be disclosed in the 2023 annual report.

Stay tuned…

2022 report:

Watch line item 3 if it is a pure contribution. But I’d guess it is a 20-30 year annual grant with a huge NPV figure.

It’s nice to hear some good news for National Geographic after they let go the last of their staff writers.

Should we anticipate an attendant price increase?
