233 no longer has a dome?

In this thread: https://www.rolexforums.com/showpost...0&postcount=29

If this is true this is most unwelcome. I hope the poster is mistaken.

Maybe this ends up like the "Rolex Seadweller will have a gloss dial" thread a while ago, but we have a witness.

Unfortunately, the poster is not mistaken. I've seen a domed crystal on the 372 and on an older 233 so I know what one looks like. The crystal on the 233that I saw in the OP boutique was most definitely not domed. I asked my guy and he said that OP have stopped it. I didn't ask when but the reference I saw was an S serial (2016)

So that implies that the R series was the last domed (I own one and it is domed)

Thanks for the clarification.

There was a huge thread on the main site about a coming gloss dial for the sea-dweller. I think it would be good if we got a second sighting or a picture, or you may get some doubters. That OP got some unnecessary flack for trying to inform people (turned out untrue it seems. Be nice here guys)

I may keep my domed K series dot in good condition. I have a feeling it is going up in value... Then again, I wore it work to day in a busy office/lab, 'cause it's so gorgeous...

Same here. Glad I got the last domed series.

I'll see if I can squeeze a visit to OP boutique next weekend and go take a picture and then post it on here

That is a shame. The domed crystal is one of the (many) things that makes the 233 special.

I noticed on the panerai site that the models with the dome crystal(335, 317, etc) has photos of angles that show the dome crystal. The 533 and 233 on the other hand, do not. So looks like this may true :(.

The 335, 533 and 689 are ostensibly the same watch. As far as I'm aware, the 335 and 533 never had a domed crystal; the 689 certainly did not.

That's right (I think).

And the dome of the 233 was much more pronounced than the 372's. As far as I could tell, the 233's done was much loved in Internet forums, though from time to time there were complaints about distortion. Maybe in "real life" beyond the WIS crowd, there wasn't much demand for the dome?

Dunno....but, I do think it's an odd move.

The 335 certainly has a dome crystal, as I own one. The 533 on the other hand, definitely does not have a dome crystal.

Will the 233 with the dome increase in value a bit?

Were you able to check if the current 233 is still domed crystal? Planning to get one. Thanks
