I have no idea why people rave on about NATO this or that. Cheapens the watch and surely does nothing other than stay wet once submerged. What is it with the NATO fixation? |

Looks good to me also.
NATO straps offer a fantastic alternative. I consistently get positive comments on my sub/speedmaster with a NATO strapped on.. Bracelets can (and will) always return....

Here's an update. I recently bought a Traser Blue Code which came with a black NATO. This is a sub $350 watch.
After reading this thread I carried out an experiment and tried the NATO on my 22005100 PO for a few hours. I came to the following conclusions: NATO straps have a reputation for safety in that there is an extra support strap which also threads underneath the watch case and keeps it stable. I have read that if one of the springbars comes off the watches lugs, then this type of strap will prevent the watch from falling of the wrist. Whether this is true or not I do not know as I have read of anyone have such an experience, nor have I ever heard of Omega springbars becoming dislodged for any reason. All I can say is that the watch sat well above my wrist and looked rather odd because of the two layers of strap under the case. My PO with the NATO was nowhere near as comfortable as the steel or the custom Omega rubber I have. Because the PO weighs about 8 times the weight of the Traser Quartz, it felt completely out of balance unless the strap was tightened to an uncomfortable level. For what it's worth I would now not ever wear a NATO strap on a high end Swiss made self winding watch. It just looks feels wrong and looks wrong. Rather like putting cheap retreads on an expensive performance automobile IMO. The NATO is back on the Traser where it looks appropriate as the watch is a military type. Cheers, Steve. |

Mesh rocks! Wish the fat spring bars on the Rolex would fit through the mesh.

Thats a lovely looking strap, but not sure that I would want my watch hanging on 2 tiny strips of leather at the spring bar point. Its probably really strong now, but after some use its gonna wear out really quick.
Has he got a website?
