16570 Crown issue (3185)
Hi guys,
I've had my Z serial 16570 Exp. II for a little over a month now. I'm really happy with it except for one thing. On occasion, once I've unscrewed the crown to wind, set the time etc, it won't screw back in, and gets locked after about 1/4 of a turn. I'm definitely not cross-threading it, but it won't budge. It often takes several attempts of unscrewing, pulling out to different stops then pushing back in before it'll screw all the way home nice and smooth. It's almost as if something isn't disengaging to allow me to screw it in? The watch was serviced prior to my purchase and the watch is spot on in all other ways, but this has me a little concerned. I don't know enough to even postulate why it would do this, or what the fix may be. It came with a 12mth warranty from the seller, but I'm wary of sending it back. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks. |

Possible all it needs is a bit of lube on the threads Rolex uses Fomblin grease just a tiny bit on threads it's also used on all the case seals and Orings.

My 216570 does the same thing; it's due to a split in one of the leading thread crests:
When it locks up, back the crown off (i.e. loosen) a quarter of half-turn till you hear a click, then proceed to tighten. RSC will replace the crown tube one day when you have it serviced, so no worries. Rich |

The watch was serviced (albeit by a 3rd party) prior to sale. Worth sending back under warranty or live with it? It sometimes takes quite a few attempts to wind fully and can be quite frustrating! |
