A speedmaster, must especially the original, is a watch respected in most every watch convo I can imagine.

It’s well crafted, very attractive, and has some serious history.

And yeah, they are available for purchase.

I agree, If I could only have one watch it would be a speedy. And I love dive watches and spend my life on the water.

I actually like it. Now, if only I could figure out the differences in the Speedmaster models!

Two different crystals, multiple "Special Editions", etc...

The speedmaster racing 44.25 is on a different planet than all the others. Ceramic bezel, the movement is ridiculous ( METAS-certified, 15,000 Gauss-resistant Master Chronometer caliber 9900) , the bracelet is all new, micro adjust, the depth of the dial is gorgeous. Rounded comfortable exhibition back.

I have 2 daytonas, so I know from where I speak.

Its all that.

Omega is the way to go. The Daytona is too small, looks like a woman's watch on the wrist.

Based on the specs and beautiful pics of the speedster racing 44.25 I wanted to love this watch. This watch has it all based on features. Unfortunately I didn't like it on my 7.25" wrist. Looked too large and dial didn't sing to me. Exhibition casebook is boring looking with the rotor taking up half the dial.

I also wanted to love the new Daytona C based on pics and hype. Unfortunately looks too small, and way over priced unless you can find it at retail.

However, Omega got it right several decades ago with the Speedmaster Professional. 42mm is perfect for a chronograph. And they are widely available. Some things are hard to improve upon.

Huh...and here I thought I was a Male of European decent. Turns out I'm neither, since my wrists are too skinny for 44.25mm. Color me shocked.

I'd be a bit more careful how you phrase your responses.

Maybe he should've waited five years before making his first post...

That’s fantastic, a great looking speedy.

I have the Daytona and there has been something about since I saw it in the 90’s. With that said my speedy gets more wrist time and functionally the Daytona is VERY hard to read. The shiny rings with the fact that there are missing hash marks make the thing virtually functionally useless. Now people may say that does not matter, but I do use my chronos and rely on the timing everyday for my job, so I do think the Daytona is overrated.

As chronographs go, Omega is always ahead for me

The standard speedy pro is just spot on. Function, legibility and size.

A lot can be said about their variations but

Pro
CK2998 (Pulsometer)
1958 CK2915-1 copy (LE)

3 completely different chrono implementations, but simply fantastic in their approach

Rolex really should be looking to evolve the 6263. It was the best they ever made. Not just because it became an icon but because (despite slightly smaller sub dials) it was the perfect configuration for a tool watch.
