GMT on an older car....
Dear Friends,
I subscribed to this excellent Forum years ago but didn't post anything as my little Rolex collection is quite private and I don't have too many things to say about my watches; I was intrigued anyway, as a car enthusiast, by this thread. I can only say that my first Rolex was a GMT that I chose for my 18th birthday in 1975 and now I'm 61 and I've passed through 4 evolutions of the GMT, one having always been firmly strapped to my left wrist. My other watches (Patek, Jaeger, IWC, Porsche etc) mainly rest in a safe, I use them only from time to time; the GMT is, and has always been, MY watch. The latest one I bought is this one, but I don't want to show any pic of it on my Porsche or Mercedes or Audi, it's a pic that I took a couple of years ago as a Senior Judge in a classic-cars Concorso, to suggest that any classic car entered in an event like this must have a working clock AND it does have to be set at the correct time. As you can see, I purposely set a wrong time in my 1953 British relic (its clock actually works very well, if noisily) to show that this detail could make the entrant lose precious points in the judging process. I think that Rolex and classic cars go well with each other, as the Rolex sponsorship in Pebble Beach and Goodwood show very well. Congratulations for an excellent Forum, clearly run and posted by real enthusiasts. All the best Stefano Pasini, bologna Italy |

I'm going to have to check out the JEEP products. In the U.S. Army I use to drive the little jeep they had there when I was stationed in Monterey. That thing was a blast to drive.
You and your daughter look like you have some fun examples there.

Awesome thread - anyone who feels differently is free to avert their eyes.
I’m interested to see if anyone with a Daytona drives a Daytona... Some beautiful pics here - definitely worth subscribing to this thread. |

Wow, some amazing watches and autos! :-) I took shipment of the 116508 on Tuesday! I was between the green dial and the black. Both are beautiful so it was tough!
